This review may be a little unfair, but it's honest and I'll explain my thinking. This is a nice beach and it does have pluses. It's less crowded, so if you don't like crowds you might prefer here. There's a long expanse of beach so space to spread out. The view is Lake Michigan so always pretty. The beach also allows dogs on the beach. Now the negatives there's a 3 minute walk from parking lot to beach. Which might not be huge, but it's uneven. The drive down to beach is down an insane road with a steep incline with twists. The view while pretty, is also a little blah compared to nearby beaches. Overall a 3 star beach in my opinion. This is mainly because of the other beaches in the area. Both Frankfort Beach and Point Betsie Lighthouse Beach are fantastic and so close. If other beaches were mire like 30 minutes away instead of like 8 and 20, I'd probably rate it a 4. If you prefer eBeach, more power to you.

One of the best places in the state to watch the sun melt into Lake Michigan. You can park in a small parking lot here that sits high atop a bluff with a fantastic vista of Lake Michigan and the Elberta area. Not to be missed if you are in the area. ( Furnace Ave to Bye St) After taking in the view from the lot, prepare to descend down a STEEP ( but paved) road to the beach area, which is fantastic and dog friendly. Not recommended if conditions are not optimal, such as winter weather.

i absolutely love this beach! it’s my favorite beach in northern michigan. i’ve gone here 10+ times, and it’s always so much fun. on a windy day it has the best waves, and on a calm day it literally just looks like a huge swimming pool because of how clear the water is and how soft the sand is. also, it has singing sand, and in my experience, it’s never too busy. if you are looking for a nice beach this is the one. :)

I used to love coming here growing up- not anymore. The trails to the beach have often been littered with trash, beer bottles, and now erosion. I made a trip up a few months ago to find the beach was closed. After speaking with some locals, it became apparent that the local Government is clueless. This is not Rocket Science. You have a gate with monitors to record those paying to get in. This way, you can track those who litter and violate any local ordinances. Instead, you close a local beach that many traveled hundreds of miles to see. Complete failure, and not how municipalities are run. Hopefully, you're able to pull it together and make it a place can and want to visit again. So many other options in nearby...
