As someone who mainly uses libraries to complete school work, I can confidently rate the Welles-Turner Memorial Library 5/5 stars. I've explored quite a few public libraries in CT in the past year and haven't found any that offer as many study spots as this one. Both of the times I've visited, I've had numerous options for places to sit with my computer plugged in. It is also very quiet and has a lot of natural light, two things I tend to look for when I really want to get some work done.
There also appear to be other great amenities for children and teens. I believe they renovated very recently, building a huge addition and a MakerSpace. They have five study rooms available to reserve, although there's more than enough space across the library for quiet study as it is.
I would recommend anyone in the area at least come and check the library out. I only discovered it because I happened to be nearby and needed a place to sit and work for a little while. From what I can see, it has something...
Read moreThere are couple things that can improve. When you book a room for your self study and then your friend books a room for group study they won't allow if you join the friend stating you can only book for an hour at a stretch. We are two different people doing the booking. We both have our rights as a resident. Even when the room is empty, they force such unreasonable rules. Isn't the purpose of all this is to help everyone. Secondly, like South Windsor and other libraries they should allow 5 pages of free printing daily. For the sale proceeds we get, it is possible. If you go at 7.30 to print school work, they shut you off by stating that they are closing (which is at 8pm). These facilities are to help public but here nothing is friendly. Printing at staples is cheaper and they are more friendly!!. Other libraries are more friendly and for the people from...
Read moreI've been coming to this library for months to study for my medical school boards. And The way these librarians treat anyone that comes to this library is a thing to behold. Such disdain and disrespect. No one is spared. Be it the elderly, kids, or anyone in between. They WILL yell at you. And speak down upon you. Especially the two elder female librarians. Wish I could have recorded each and every one of their flare ups and made a video montage out of it. Happens on a daily basis. And it's quite embarrassing. I guess none of the other librarians have the guts to break it to them regarding their rude behavior. How they still have the job I have absolutely no idea. It's quite apparent to everyone that's witnessed their despicable behavior that they despise their job. If that's the case then save everyone the disrespect and find another place to work. This...
