Some positives before the rest of the review. Good cocktails, beer selection, clean bathrooms, good vibes.
Our service was pretty terrible, 25 minutes between seeing our waiter and mistimed food. One entree came out 20 minutes after the others. Apps - the pretzel was decent, but wasn't served with a beer cheese.. seemed like some sort of seafood bisque which is risky with the potential of shellfish allergies. Crab cake was ok, had some tacky writing in cocktail sauce and mustard that said "Bin228" that you would see on top of a grocery store birthday cake. Brussel sprouts were bad, unseasoned so what should be crispy just tasted burned. Then we got the onion soup. Pictures looked good but when it was served I thought a group behind me may have ordered chili.. but it was my soup that had an overpowering smell of cumin. It was inedible. The duck confit flat bread seemed interesting, but we got under cooked bread with unseasoned duck and mushrooms with what I believe was gruyere? Anyway it didn't taste like anything just weird textures in my mouth. After one entree was 20 minutes late we tried to speak to the manager who apologized, took our soups, and disappeared for 20 minutes without telling us where she was going or what she was doing. Eventually they did comp everything but the apps and drinks which is fair. The issue isn't the place being busy it's handling being busy and setting expectations, checking in with customers, and keeping drinks full.
I hope the chef was new or they were all out of spices/seasoning because the food was...
Read moreI can't tell you how disappointed WE all were. We gathered as a family celebrating my brothers 60th birthday. My niece flew from Asheville, NC. A gift, especially after the devastation of Hurricane Helene 3 weeks earlier. She missed her connecting flight today, threw no fault of her own. Dinner was good but we felt the server was eager to get us all out of there. We heard from her when she delivered the check, the kitchen is closed. WHAT!! We were never offered dessert, my brother wanted a coffee especially with his long drive home and my mom didn't get her tea. I am so upset. I got up to use the restroom to cool off. I see the manger to express my diappointment. She doesn't understand why I am so upset since "your server had offered you dessert". I can assure you she never did!! We got the check, and she said the kitchen was closed. I confirmed with my family, thinking perhaps I had missed something. Nope, they agreed with me. Thank goodness. Bin 228, I expected better. The bill was not cheap. $400 plus later and that's not including what we had already spent at the bar. It's not every day you turn 60 and getting the family together. Shame on you Bin 228 Glastonbury. We expected better. My family and I chose your restaurant to celebrate my brothers very special occasion and you let us all down. Tsk tsk!! Very...
Read moreStopped in tonight (Thursday) with a friend because I had heard nothing but good things about their food, and my parents go often. I am on break from college and they suggested we go. We walked in and it wasnt packed but was fairly busy. The host was friendly and promptly sat the two of us at a table. We were seated for a few minutes before a waiter came over and before saying anything else asked for our IDs. I informed him that we weren't drinking (we are 20) he rudely said "yeah but it's a bar so you need to be 21 to eat here, sorry but you're going to have to leave." I find this ridiculous and rude that we were not informed that it was 21 to sit at a table until we had been sitting down! I have worked in restaraunts where you have to be 21 to enter or sit in certain areas and have always informed people before seating them. The host said nothing and I did not moy see any signage about it. This was extremely unprofessional and rude. I even checked the website and Instagram after leaving and could not find anything about the age requirement. Either way carding someone while they are seated at the table and kicking us out was beyond rude and...
