The Riverwalk at Yorktown is a beautiful spot to relax, stroll, and enjoy the views along the York River. The walkway is wide and well-maintained, with plenty of benches and shaded areas. You’ll find a charming mix of restaurants, shops, and historic buildings nearby, along with interpretive signs that share the area’s rich history. We were lucky enough to see the bridge open while we were there to allow a military vessel to pass through—it opens by rotating two central sections, and it was fascinating to watch it in action. Read moreWe visited the Riverwalk and surrounding area just before Christmas 2019. They had a farmers market and Christmas activities on the day we were there. The children were able to sit on Santa’s lap and make an air freshener with citrus, cloves, and evergreens. A few of the kids got their faces painted by local tattoo artist. We walked up the hill to explore a little of the area and experience the colonial atmosphere. The prime rib was not tender. The hamburgers were cooked to death and had 0 flavor. The potatoe hash was too salty. Everything was cold.
