I have never had such a poorly experience in my life. I had never been here before and decided to eat here because they had a couple interesting things on the menu. I had lunch at this establishment with my girlfriend and two of my friends. My girlfriend, one of my friends and I are black, and the other friend is white. After being seated, we ordered our food with the waitress. As we waited, I noticed that multiple parties that came in after us had received their food. After 45 minutes of waiting, I asked the manager where was our food. After telling me she would check on it, our food arrives 15 minutes later. All that was ordered was 2 wraps, a salad, and a pre-made biscuit sandwich; and food was mediocre. I couldn’t eat my wrap after two bites and sent it back to our original waitress and asked for it to be taken off of the bill. The manager later came back to our table to apologize that our food took so long because the cook was new. This didn't make sense because the multiple groups that came in after us got their food before we did and received it in ample amount of time. So clearly, it had nothing to do with the cook being new. He just flat out didn’t make our food. I do not appreciate how the manager blatantly lied to me about why took so long. Generally when things don't go according to plan, the manager apologizes to the customer prior to them figuring it out. I shouldn’t have to ask a manager what’s taking so long for my food for it to finally be made. In addition, it didn't help that all the customers that came after us were white. The cook and some of the staff were looking at us as if they have never seen black people. So clearly, that’s why the cook didn’t make our food; not because he was “new”. Then, the manager tried to appease us with some cake as if that’s supposed to calm me down and make the situation okay. But it’s not.
I grew up in a place that is very diverse, and I was always taught I can go in to any establishment and receive quality service regardless of my race. That clearly doesn’t apply to this place because they do not know how to treat people with common courtesy. I should never have been made to feel like my business was not welcomed due to the color of my skin. I would not recommend anyone to eat there; let alone step foot in this establishment. This is a poor excuse for a restaurant. If I could, I would give this place negative stars.
Sidenote: The waitress that served us originally was very polite, pleasant and friendly. She even seem genuinely concerned as to why it was...
Read moreI live in Los Angeles, and I always try to get to this spot in Yorktown bc I love their biscuits. I took my entire family who are all different races and ages 6 months old to 67, and was met by a very rude older women with short blond hair. My sister and I went inside to look at the menu while our family waited outside. My mother who is 60 + sat down on a chair outside while the rest of us stood. The lady came out and told us we could not sit there if we were taking our food to go. There wasn’t a soul outside. Nor was there room for all of us inside? We said no problem and a few of us went inside to order. We asked if they had biscuits and were Immediately met with a rude response that they only had a few left !! and that was that! It was almost as if she didn’t want to wait on us ! We were completely shocked and confused by how rude this lady was treating us - as we’ve never received this type of treatment before here. ( I grew up here) I’m not sure if this was a micro aggression bc we’re all mixed races, or if this lady is just plain rude! But she was NOT happy we were there. She did not greet us or smile at us …she was just upset by our presence. I will never come back to this place again. We did not deserve this rude treatment. Update: After posting about my experience on social media I was contacted by the Williamsburg social media manager, no I didn’t receive a kind apology for my experience, her actual response was “ I am confused as to why you would contact a restaurant via Instagram instead of calling or asking for a member of management 🤔” their response...
Read moreWe stopped here for lunch last week. Although the food was very good, the two women waited on tables, cashiering, waiting on the folks sitting outside at table were very harried and disorganized. There is no sign to indicate that someone will seat you, so we were next in line to be seated and a man and his wife proceeded to sit down where we were told those were our seats. Luckily, a woman and her son got up and we were seated in that spot instead. The man made a remark," if you don't grab a table, you lose out." Well, surprise! That's not how it works there. Also, with no one watching the outside, and really not watching the inside closely, any one could walk off without paying! We waited for our check, and one waitress said she'd get it for us. We waited several minutes and decided to get up and go over to the register. The other waitress had our check and she apologized for not bringing it to us. They desperately need more help there. Perhaps it's still considered "off season" in this area? I'm not sure, but it was a lovely day, plus school vacation week, so it would be wise to put on additional help to keep an eye on the inside dining area as well as the outside. The food was delicious; excellent potato...
