The park itself deserves a 5 star rating. It is wonderfully maintained. We have been going there now for almost two years to take our dogs to the dog park section. It is wonderful to let the dogs play off-leash and wear them out. The reason for the one star rating I give now is more for the last three visits we have made to the dog park and it is for the purse dog owners. There are some dog owners of these 2 - 3 pound purse dogs that keep bringing their dogs into the large dog park and get upset when the big dogs pick on their little dogs. That's why there is a little dog park for dogs under 30 pounds. Do these owners think they are privileged in some way. FOLLOW THE RULES PEOPLE to avoid a bad experience. The last occurrence the lady had a dog at her feet and might have weighed all of 2 pounds and she spent the entire time on her cell phone. I can't stress enough, READ THE RULES. they are posted right at the entrance of the dog parks. I have seen Great Danes, American Indian Dogs, Huskies, and a variety of Hunting Dogs. I have talked to several of the owners of these large breed dogs and they do not like these "purse" dogs in the large dog park either. To all you "purse" dog owners, you need to realize that it is in the nature of a hunting dog to catch rabbits and squirrels and bring them to their owners. Why do you think dog day care facilities like Camp Bow Wow separate the dogs by size in play areas. This wasn't going on at the park until just the past couple months and I feel I cannot bring my dog there anymore because of the risk of a injury to either of the dogs large or small because of people that feel they are...
Read moreAs far as the dog park section of this park goes, I would love to give it 5 stars; it's very well managed and has a great atmosphere. However, the 2 stars is due to some of the other dog-owners who frequent this particular dog park. While most people are generally friendly and sociable, I've noticed a stark sense of pretentiousness in some dog-owners ("My dog is better than yours" mentality.). There was even an incident where an energetic dog ran up to me and tried jumping on me. I merely lifted my leg up to block the dog, and its owner complains to me that I was "kicking" her dog. Yes, that's right. She didn't even apologize for her dog's behavior in the first place and then places the blame on me. Not to mention, there are too many people who smoke there and litter their cigarette butts on the ground. I rarely come to this dog park now; I would not...
Read moreThis park is great for me and my boys to go to during the winter months. They have a small and large dog side. I take my boys to the large side due to being medium to large breed. I love this park because of the nature trails in the fenced in area. I walk on the trails with the boys. There is an open space as well for you to play frisbee and fetch. It is an off lead dog park, however, if your dog does not do well with other dogs there are trails next to the dog park for leashed walks. When it rains alot it can get fairly muddy and puddles begin to form large enough for dogs to lay in. It is a nature park, so this doesn't bother me. My one pup very much enjoys getting all muddy. This is a great winter time alternative for me and my pups to go to when swimming season is over. I love the natural environment...
