I went to Vera's during my wedding planning process. It was actually the first place I went to try on wedding gowns. I have since gotten married but felt strongly enough about how bad my experience was there to write this review after all. The store has now dropped the term bridal from the name of the salon. They carried Da Vinci bridal gowns, which I could see were beautiful online. I made the appointment over the phone to try on "wedding gowns." When I got to the store, Vera told me they did not have many wedding dresses because they had sold most of them off the rack for a cotillion ball. I would have walked out then but my brother and mother took off work and drove a distance to come to the appointment with me that day. As she led me to the rack in the back of the store, I quickly realized that there were almost no dresses for me to try on. It would have been very useful for her to tell me this information that she had sold most of her dresses off the rack before I showed up for the appointment before that that day. They did not have any type of clips to cinch me into the dresses so most of the dresses were falling off of me and my brother could see my undergarments. As the appointment progressed another woman and older gentleman came out to watch me try on dresses and stood there the whole time staring at me saying almost nothing. I felt like a spectacle. I still cannot believe this was my first experience trying on wedding dresses. I think it's a good thing that they dropped the term bridal from the name. However, this customer service experience was a terrible one. I would not recommend this store to anyone and would have left a zero star...
Read moreI went shopping here for my bridal party dresses. We found the perfect dresses and ordered them. My matron of honor, who lives 2 hours away, received her alterations from Veras. She paid over $200 for shoulder work and the length of the dress to be altered. They told her it was perfect and there was no need to try it on before she got home. After arriving home, she tried on the dress and they did not alter on of the shoulders!!! She called back and they simply told her to come back in and pay for another alteration. My MOH asked if they have copies of the work order, they do not keep these. So even though she paid for the alteration, she would have to drive 2 hours back and repay for them to complete what they first started. I live in NC, and when I came to town, she told me this story. She also requested the scraps from her dress so she can incorporate it into my bouquet. They did not give her the scraps. I went up there to talk to them. First off, Vera who delt with us, was too busy to talk. I requested the scraps and for a phone call back. I went up there 2 days later to pick up the scraps and they were not even ths ame color or material we ordered! Furthermore, after 2 attempts trying to talk with Vera and requesting calls back, I have received no contact. They took advantage of my matron of honor, who is an elderly lady. This is terrible...
Read moreI have been searching for a MOB dress since May. I've had all kinds of experiences with shopping-both good and bad but no dress. I had the very best time at Vera's this week and finally found a perfect dress for my daughter's wedding. I also felt that the pricing was spot on with what I had seen at all the other stores, boutiques and online. The selection of gowns is amazing. (They also have some wedding dresses, prom dresses and bridesmaid dresses there--they had lots and lots of Mother of Bride/Groom and evening gowns) The owners were wonderful and knowledgable about their dresses--I was treated so well. What I loved is that they were able to give helpful advise that was very much appreciated. They stayed with me as I tried on my dresses. I did make an appointment and that is the way to go--but you will not be disappointed because even if you don't find your dress there, you will be able to try on many options as their on-site inventory is large. If you come in without an appointment and they are not busy--they will definitely welcome you to try on because they are very friendly and helpful--but I would avoid Saturdays for that. Best of all--they can give you information on alterations because it is done in house as you are trying on the gowns--that is so helpful in making a decision on a...
