After dinner at a neighboring restaurant, I went into the store with my elderly mother and 2 children to specifically find a long cardigan for my eldest kiddo. First and foremost we weren't even greeted upon entering (though not the biggest of deals other then not a warm welcome like most stores do upon entering) nonetheless as we were casually shopping we were not once asked if we needed help finding anything ect. As the store was I'd now guess about 15min to closing time, though I have never shopped there so i was a bit unaware of the stores closing time. One of the young ladies mumbles something sounded like we are closing. What I now know "3min to closing" I expressed to my kiddo "did you Find anything?" BEFORE we could gather her items to take to the register the worker turns off all the lights and Screams "WE ARE CLOSED" opens the door and says "YOU ALL NEED TO LEAVE." I told her "hey i cant see, and that was extremely rude and that we wanted to pay for our couple items," and she just says "WE ARE CLOSED YOU NEED TO LEAVE!! I have visual disabilities and I explained can you turn on the lights and that they both have horrible customer service to say the least! Then the other girl starts arguing with me saying they are closed and told us to leave and get out very rudely. I expressed that is not how you treat customers and that I understand it is closing exactly 9pm and they didn't even give us the opportunity to pay for the items. I told them maybe before you scream and yell and argue with customers they could have said "Hey if you'd like to pay for your items now as our store is officially closed" or when we first entered, theu could have simply said "Hi just so you know we are about to close in 15min could i help you find something" might have been a better approach. Not only did shutting off the lights abruptly hurt my eyes, my 7year old was extremely frightened, not only by the dark but how the employees were screaming and arguing after I also told them we are not going to be going back and fourth arguing while the other was writing down the managers number as I had requested. She (orange faux locs) had repeatedly tell her coworker (dark color faux locs) to stop arguing with me multiple times. Those employees need to be trained on how to deal with customers, and just simply have respect as there was no need to be that rude and aggressive at all. We came to quickly purchase a sweater or 2 and support a local small second hand store. They also need to know how unsafe that was with this day and age people are completely unhinged/unstable and that could have gone way wrong. Also the dark hair employee as we were walking out tried to make the door hit my child, and i asked my child did she hit you, and my child stated no though when we were in out vehicle my chuld told me YES mom she did try and hit me with the door and she didnt want things to escalate and didnt want me to call the police and press charges as she looked like an immature child. They might just be untrained and too young to understand, but this is unexceptable and totally needs to be addressed by not only upper management (not a key holder) but the Owner of the store ASAP as this form of representation of "Platos Closet" was totally unexceptable and down...
Read moreI have been shopping at Plato’s Closet since high school and now a college sophomore. I want to let other customers know about how I was treated at this store by the employees. To make this story short, I owned a grey mini Fjallraven Kanken backpack that the employees took from me without complete, official consent as one of the items I sold to them along with a few clothing items. I ran out to my car to get a pair of heels to see if they were interested in purchasing it and told them I’ll be back. Without my knowledge, I came back and the transaction has been completed on the computer and wait on the table was a receipt for me to sign to complete the transaction. I told the employees I changed my mind and wanted to take my backpack back. They refused saying it’s against their policy and it’s completed on the computer and they cannot do anything about it. They gave me two choices: 1) to take the money they gave for the items (including the backpack) or 2) to buy it back from them for $20. Take this in for consideration, I bought this backpack for $40 and they are giving me $6 for it so that’s the reason why I wanted to take it back, I am losing more than 5x I paid for. They mentioned how the owner of the store is going to side with them of not giving back my bag and is on a business trip out of state and won’t know when they will come back. I agreed to getting the money since I apparently had no other choice besides the two they gave me. I later called them to say how I realized I sold the wrong one and they have a fake Kanken backpack and they said that they are going to sell it on the shelves just as the name brand backpack without giving any info to customers how it is fake and of course we the customers are going to assume it is real as it would be labeled “Mini Grey Fjallraven Kanken backpack” because we trust that this store is telling us that we are getting the real name brand backpack. And how we the customer can figure it out for ourselves that it is fake after purchasing. I read instores and on their website how they “care deeply about [their] customers and [their] community. [They] strive to do whatever [they] can to make sure [we] have the best experience while shopping with us.” Also, they do claim to sell name brands. I don’t know why a business like this would promise customers these things to be what they stand for when they and the employees do the very opposite thing. This experience I’ve had today absolutely do not show they care for their customers or sell real name brand products. Beware when selling as they will rip you off for their own benefit without a care for...
Read moreThis is the worst experience I have ever had at a store. I have actively bought and sold clothing since they first opened but the last week has shown me how careless the owner really is and I cannot support a business like that. There were multiple shoppers showing concern that there was a breakout of Covid in the store and they did not answer any questions. I live with my father who is extremely immunocompromised, and had gone to the store within the last two weeks. I tried to contact the store privately to ask if the outbreak was real, and I expressed why I was so worried. Instead of a reply, I was blocked by them. I had to go get a test yesterday, and thankfully I was negative. However, what the store owner did is more than enough to make me take my business elsewhere. They clearly only care about their profits, and not the community. Very disappointing...
Hello. I just wanted to reply to the owner, but it seems like there isn’t a way to do that on the original post. I would like to be very clear that I was never rude or demanding. I also never asked for personal info because I understand that it would be a violation of HIPAA. I am so upset that the owner will not take accountability, but from other reviews it seems like this is a common pattern... the store announced that they would close temporarily, not that would change their hours which was another sign of some sort of outbreak, and it is clear that the owner lied in the reply. They also posted to stay safe and added gifs of masks which references the virus, and not a staffing issue. I am not sure why they couldn’t reassure me that there wasn’t anyone with the virus when I explained why I was so terrified. I’m deeply upset by the way that I was made out to be rude when I expressed a deep, serious fear of a loved one getting...
