IF YOU WORKED FOR A STORE THAT SOLD A PRODUCT LIKE THIS, COULD YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?
About seven years ago I paid about $1,000 for a Weber Genesis stainless steel grill. It worked well, and I took good care of it. I bought a special cover to protect it from the weather. The outside always looked great, and I didn't pay much attention to the inside. Then I started looking carefully.
What I realized was that the outside was made of stainless steel, but the inside was made of cheap metal that would rust and fall apart – regardless of how much protection it was given. I was astounded.
I spoke with a staff member at Page Hardware -- I worked my way up three levels in the chain of command. He told me that there was nothing they could do. I would need to take it up with Weber, and he offered no help or guidance on how to do that. I was on my own.
Page Hardware gets a number of five-star reviews. People like their friendly staff, and their cute products. But I asked myself: "If I worked for a store that sold a product like this and then failed to stand behind it, could I sleep at night?" The answer was, "No." So I decided to post this review to warn others.
If you're looking for a cute tea towel and like the hometown feel of the store, then this is the place for you. But if you're considering buying an expensive product -- and you're relying on them to stand behind it -- you need to ask yourself a question: DO I FEEL LUCKY? Because if you're not lucky, you'll be...
Read moreWe bought an Electrolux washer and liquid propane (LP) Dryer from Page Hardware. The sales process was straight forward and they were able to accommodate an install within a couple of weeks. The Page Hardware team installed the washer for us and did a fantastic job. They took care on hardwood floors, and utilized a dolly to transport the new and old washer.
One word of caution when buying a LP dryer; Page outsources this to a subcontractor and whoever was tasked with installing the dryer were terrible. They left our front door gaping open multiple times with the outside temperature of 27. Instead of using a dolly or straps, they hand carried the new dryer and old dryer. The transport instructions that they left indicate that the dryer should be transported upright using straps or a dolly. They put the new dryer on its side and slid it down my basement stairs. When removing the old dryer, they drug the old dryer up the stairs by the power cord and vent gouging each one of my stairs which tore off paint and caused about half of my stairs to splinter. The cherry on top was they pivoted the dryer on my hardwood floors and kitchen tile 90 degrees which caused unnecessary scrapes (luckily nothing major). If you are buying a LP dryer from Page, ask for what company will be installing and thoroughly vet them; I wish I did as the team showed absolutely no respect for...
Read moreI want to share a quick story about what great customer service Page Hardware and Appliance provides so please read to the end. I live in Florida and have never shopped in their store. However, I was searching for a part that GE’s Warranty department had said was on back order. They said if could find the part they would purchase it for me. I must have called 50 places before I randomly called Page Hardware as their website showed it in stock. I called and they advised it was out of stock and on back order which I was okay with that answer. Within 5 minutes I received a call back from them. Another salesman had apparently overheard the conversation, did some quick research and found that same part had an alternative number different from the retail number and that GE’s website showed it in stock. Yeah, I’m still confused. I asked if he could order it for me but he stated they could not ship to Florida. I called GE, gave them the part number and within three days they had shipped it to my home. The salesman had no real need to take the time to do what he did, especially knowing he couldn’t sell it to me even if he had it. If I lived close they would get all of my business for sure. Not only are they a great company, they are staffed by...
