I recently moved to Hackensack from NYC. I am very much into nail art and the creativity that comes with it. I have been looking for a nail salon in the area as i have been driving to and from NJ to NYC every 2-3 weeks to get my nails done by my nail tech of 6 years so this was a big deal for me. I was introduced to fine touch by someone I met at a local bar. I made my appointment online for a fill-in which was very convenient. I booked for a fill-in and left $20 deposit.
I arrived at 7:58am, my appointment was for 8am and Billy started my nails. I told him what I was looking for I had a picture (very into nail art and showing creativity through my nails) and he advised very abruptly that he could not accomodate me because the time allowed for a fill-in was 1 hour and he had a client right after. Understood, however I think this should be communicated while booking an appointment online so that the client has an option to choose nail art that will add additional time to their service.
He did 4 nails with art and the others were plain...He was done right at 8:57am, he worked fairly quickly and the quality was a 8/10. While doing my nails I asked him if he had an Instagram where I could see his work, again very rude he said NO. (Which I found out later was a lie...why he lied I have no idea...weird) I was not happy with the results because I came there with a picture of what i wanted and he didn't deliver, in fact was rude about it.
When he was done he got up, went out to smoke, didnt try to accomodate me at all eventhough his next client had not arrived. I paid $70(including deposit) for my fill-in which is not bad considering I am used to paying $120+ per visit in NYC.
I didnt get upset although I didnt feel welcomed or appreciated as a potential new loyal client who does not mind spending money on her nails frequently. I advised whom I assume was the owner how unhapy I was and he took my payment. I normally tip my nail tech 20%+ however this is the 1st time I did not. The owner initially made an excuse for Billy advising he had another client however this client still hadnt shown up, so Billy definately could have accomodated me.
I asked the owner if someone else Could finish up the nail design for me. Initially he said no one was available then he said he would be able to have someone help me in about 15 minutes so I waited. I waited for about 10 minutes and a young lady was able to finish up the nail design for me she did a good job as well I was charged another $25 for six nails making my total $95 and I tipped her $10 for literally 10 minutes.
Again I don't mind tipping if the customer service is A+ and she did a good job. Overall would I return, No and not because the quality of the work was not good but because the customer service was lack luster I did not understand the nasty attitude that Billy had maybe he had a rough morning not sure but I work in sales and will never treat a potential new client this way especially when they are spending their money with me.
The location of this nail salon is prime real estate as there are so many new luxury buildings being built and it will definitely bring new clientele to them however I will make sure that I share my experience with other new potential clients that may be looking for a new nail salon. I've never had this experience at a nail salon in New York City this is something new for me I spend a lot of money on my nails and I don't mind. getting my nails done is about the artistry and the experience. Unfortunately the experience at this nail salon fell quite short and I will not...
Read moreI've come here a few times in the past and have even referred very good, high end clients here. Yesterday, I came for a gel mani/pedi. I was happy with the pedi. However, I unfortunately wasn't happy with the manicure. I showed a picture & I wanted it to have a little more colors, but still match the pedicure. When the technician started doing my nails, she used a different technique and I didn't like how pale it looked. I asked her if it would be darker than that, and she said "no, that's how it's going to be." I tried to stop her from doing the rest of the nails because I honestly didn't like it, but then she commented, "it's going to be a lot of work for me to change it." It was very early in the process & it could've easily been wiped off. She only started the process on the 3rd nail at that point. So based on her comment & the way it was said (with a rude undertone), I really felt like she was annoyed. I felt uncomfortable & compelled to let her continue. At the end of the day, it's my nails, I'm paying for it and I have to live with it, so I should get what I want. So I asked her to at least incorporate the color of my toenail to tie in & somewhat match my toes so it's not so different. I really wanted her to just stop & wipe it off & just match my toes, but I didn't want to deal with any attitude, which was already brewing. So I basically settled for whatever she was doing, even though I didn't like it. The worst part was when she hit me with the tab which was almost $170! My nails looks like a $40 set. How can you justify such a high price?? I think it is highly unprofessional to not honor the customer's request, and also, to not disclose the total price to the customer prior to performing the service. Had she told me up front how much it was going to be, I would've simply asked her to provide me with more economical options. I left there very unhappy with my nails. There's even spots in the nails that look like little holes & dirt that must've gotten trapped in during the painting process. I was so upset that I paid an unbelievable amount of money for a set that didn't justify not even half the price. I wanted to question the pricing & I got as far as asking how much was the pedicure; she didn't answer the question & just said, "she'll give you a 5% discount if you pay cash", she then walked away and tended to the next customer. I didn't want to make a scene, so I discreetly told the receptionist that I don't understand why it's so high & she should've told me, & the receptionist just looked at me & didn't say anything & just requested the price with cash discount.
I got completely ripped off, and it is my hope that this review reaches the owner, and that some sort of restitution or resolution would be offered because I am completely disappointed and dissatisfied with this particular service I received, and the unjustified astronomical price. Everyone I showed my nails to all said "it doesn't look worth it." I ideally would like a partial refund to reflect the actual value of the service & final product received. It's not ethical or fair to take advantage of customers like that. I've been coming here for a few years, but after this experience, I'm not sure I will ever return nor...
Read moreI got a fill in done by Maira. I came in and showed her a photo of what I wanted, French with some snowflakes. She freestyled the design a little bit which I didn’t complain about because as a nail tech myself I know you always want to make it your own. She then was adding rhinestones to the design which I didn’t ask for and I know rhinestones are typically an additional charge to which she replied “no don’t worry you’re paying for design on each nail so it’s included”. I paid $75 for this fill... $75! I left the salon and was overall happy with my nails. 2 days later one of the rhinestones fell off. (A little back story, I’m 7 months pregnant practically on bed rest so I do nothing at all and there’s no reason for any missing stones or breakage on my nails.) I contacted Maira through Instagram and she told me to come in the next day and she’d put another stone which I did. 2 days later a nail broke, literally just broke right off in the middle I didn’t even feel it pop off. I sent her a photo again on ig to which she replied “omg come monday”. I contacted her Monday to ask what time I could come several hours passed and she didn’t respond so I messaged her again with a question mark. She opened my messages but did not respond. On Tuesday, I messaged her again, she once again read my message but did not respond. On Wednesday, I messaged her again asking “okay so you can’t fix it anymore?” She again read my message and did not respond. She was however very active on Instagram posting all the sets she’d been doing. - So today, Friday, I left a comment on the photo she posted of my set saying what had happened and how she kept reading my messages and not responding. Right away she sent me a message telling me she’s been busy and how she did all my designs without “even charging me what she was supposed to” and proceeded to tell me it was unnecessary for me to comment on her post. (But that’s the only way I was able to get a response from her?) She then deleted my comment and blocked me on Instagram. I’m highly highly disappointed. I feel I’m entitled to at least a partial refund. I will never return to Maira ever again. Is this how she treats all her customers? I’m surprised anyone even returns to her. She charged me $75 for a fill that didn’t even last 4 days... I’ve never paid $75 for a fill and I’ve never charged someone $75 for a fill. How insane. Terrible terrible customer service on her part. You could delete my comment and block me on ig but you can’t delete my review Maira,...
