The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station — Attraction in Haddam

My husband and I were married at the Riverhouse in September last year. There is nothing bad I can say at all. Our experience was amazing here!!! We loved everything about our wedding. When I think back to the day, there is nothing I can think of at all that could have been any better and that is because of the staff here. The venue is absolutely stunning when you walk in. The food was incrediable, where some of our guests are still talking about how great the meals and appetizers were. I would recommend going to their tasting as well if possible. That was such a fun day and helped us pick which apps to get since we were able to taste everyone of them. The views are incrediable as well off of the decks. We were married on site which was so beautiful under the gazebo. We ordered the extra food to be served during/after dancing which was a fun little touch as well. (Not that it was needed though because the meals were so big) The mini hamburgers, hot dogs and fries were amazing though!! We felt like royalty and that we were the most important people there. The guys loved having a room for themselves as well to get ready which was a great touch. Not many places think about the grooms too. We got ready in the bridal area which was fun as well!! My family and I had an enjoyable time at this place, celebrating the wedding reception of my nephew and his beautiful wife. This place is large and would easily hold a larger number of guests, and certainly more than the 100 that we were. There is even a tented area outside, with seating, where one could perform the marriage ceremony. The parking lot has enough space for a large number of cars, so parking is no problem. The wait staff was clean, friendly, helpful, and most attentive. The food was delicious and portion sizes were adequate. The bartender is a huge Mets fan, which I was happy about.😁 I was not privy to the pricing structure of the Riverhouse so I won’t comment on that. You can easily inquire about it by calling them or checking their website.

The only negative thing I would say, and it’s no fault of the Riverhouse, is that cellular service in the area is very low, so you will have a difficult time uploading photos and videos, or updating your online activities, and you definitely would not be able to stream any lives. Some with certain carriers were not even able to place phone calls. Hopefully, a cell tower will be placed in the area in the near future. The Riverhouse does have free wifi, but as you can imagine, 100+ people trying to use it would be a major problem.

If you are looking for somewhere to get married, the Riverhouse is an absolutely incredible option! Because the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception are all self-contained within the venue it takes a LOT of the stress off of the planning process.

The staff was amazing! From the management team who helped us plan and organize all the details to the day of catering staff who executed everything flawlessly. We and our guests felt VERY accommodated by everything the folks at the Riverhouse provided for us.

The location is gorgeous! We were able to take the short trek down the hill to the river to take photos in plenty of time to get back for the ceremony because of how close everything is. The venue gave us multiple options within where to have the ceremony which is nice. There was a good contingency plan in case of bad weather. Simply put: they are buttoned up from top to bottom and the venue, food and bar were all things we didn’t have to worry about because of the quality of everyone involved at the Riverhouse.

Our guests really loved the cocktail hour! The mac and cheese bar was a huge hit and the numerous passed hors d'oeuvres were all delicious and enjoyed by everyone! Getting married is expensive, but the Riverhouse is a good value for everything that they provide for an all-inclusive event!
