This is a windswept open-air place to view the Delaware River from the highway side. The real attraction, the "Scenic Overlook" itself, is on the southbound side of interstate 295, and there is a convenient foot bridge available to cross over from the northbound side where there is also parking. From the northbound side there are trails that lead in one direction all the way to Trenton along the D&R canal stub end- and in the other direction take you across the NJ transit RiverLine bridge across Crosswicks creek into the City of Bordentown where there's a whole lively downtown scene with bars, restaurants, historic sights, small businesses... even a brewery. As long as it's still daylight, technically you could park at the "Scenic Overlook", walk into Bordentown city, and enjoy yourself there, then walk back to your car and continue on your journey on northbound interstate 295. If you are sleepy, need to use your phone, want to comfortably eat, need a stretch break, need fresh air, or you want to remember something symbolic with a lock stop here (there is an army memorial here too) . It's beautiful gazing at the water. No restrooms just a scenic outlook. The locks on the bridge/overpass are a mystery to me some appear to be romantic and others are in memory of loved ones who have passed. It is wheelchair accessible too.
