If I were rating Under The Moon Cafe from my first time dining here I would of given it 5 stars! Unfortunately, when I dined here 4 days later that day I would of given it 3 stars. I came in here on a Sunday for the first time, and I absolutely loved it! I ordered the empanadas for an appetizer, and they are DELICIOUS! One of the best empanadas I ever had! The meat inside was seasoned to perfection! For entree I had the Dirty Gnocchi which was very good! The gnocchi tasted like soft pillows of heaven! I highly recommend ordering it! For dessert I had the brownie and the Dulce de leche pie. The brownie was ok/good, but it tasted like it was made a few days prior. The Dulce de leche pie was OUTRAGEOUS! I loved the restaurant so much I came back 4 days later which was a Thursday. I highly recommend ordering it!The first thing I noticed was the dessert display case since I'm a huge dessert lover! They had the same desserts in the display case as Sunday with everything almost gone! Unfortunately, they were the same desserts they were trying to still get rid of from Sunday! When they should of been tossed out by this time! That day I had the artichoke rice balls which tasted horrible! It didn't taste like your traditional Italian rice balls. They had a bad taste, and it was topped with disgusting sauce! Skip them! For entree I had the ropa vieja which was very good, but it came with more tostones than actual meat! The dish would of been better paired with plantains. For dessert I had the banana chocolate chip bread pudding, but when I received it, it was stiff because it was sitting in the case from 4 days ago. I asked the waitress to heat it up more to soften it. Then it was Delicious! I also took a chocolate nut crepe to go. The chocolate nut crepe ended up being stale! The crepe layers were all dried out and stiff. Crepe cakes should be served within 2 days since the layers are delicate. It goes bad fast, and the one I received tasted like it was made a week ago! Any desserts you order ask what day it was made! If there is only a few pieces left of something avoid ordering it here! I still recommend dining here as it's such a cute restaurant plus the first time I came everything was Amazing! I still plan on coming back, and hopefully it’s just as good as my...
Read moreWhen it comes to memorable dining experiences in Bordentown, New Jersey, Under the Moon Cafe holds a special place in my heart. From the delightful appetizers to the tantalizing tapas tower, every dish showcased the chef's culinary expertise. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, coupled with the friendly service, made the dinner even more enjoyable. Under the Moon Cafe truly feels like a home away from home.
To kick off, I decided to start with the Artichoke Rice Balls accompanied by a Cheese-Basil Aioli. This appetizer was a fantastic choice and set the tone for an exceptional meal. The rice balls were perfectly crispy on the outside, revealing a creamy and flavorful artichoke center. The Cheese-Basil Aioli provided a delectable tangy kick, complementing the rice balls beautifully. Each bite was a burst of flavor that left me craving more.
For my main course, I opted for the Tapas Tower, which turned out to be an incredible culinary adventure. The tower showcased an array of delectable dishes, starting with the Skirt Steak topped with Chimichurri, a classic Argentinian sauce that added a refreshing herbal note to the perfectly cooked steak. Paired with creamy Mash Potatoes, this combination was a match made in food heaven.
Next up was the Grilled Octopus, a dish that surprised and delighted me. The tender and charred octopus had a delightful smokiness, and its subtle flavor was enhanced by a light seasoning that let the natural taste shine through.
The Pork Belly Bites with a Soy Glaze were the epitome of indulgence. The succulent, melt-in-your-mouth bites were accompanied by a rich and savory soy glaze that provided a delightful flavor.
My mom opted for the Risotto Special, and it was evident that she thoroughly enjoyed it. Creamy and perfectly cooked, the risotto was a delightful mix of flavors and textures.
Apart from the delectable food, Under the Moon Cafe exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The tables against the wall, complete with bench cushions and pillows, create a cozy and homely ambiance. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel right at home, adding to the overall enjoyment of the...
Read moreLove this place, eclectic decor and menu. Our server was Ashley and she provided top notch service Visited this cafe for the first time yesterday and my husband and I taste tested the menu which included zucchini fritti (absolutely delicious), homemade gnocchi (delightfully delicate gnocchi but overdressed with honey and undercooked peas-needed a squeeze of acid) risotto which was mushroom and peas(tasty but lacked creaminess, salt, and splash of lemon),pumpkin soup(smooth creamy texture but entirely too sweet and over seasoned with pumpkin spices-couldn’t taste the savory flavor of the pumpkin), octopus (flavorful, tender, and delicious), braised short ribs with potato cake and creamed horseradish (short rib was tender but needed moisture, gravy was very tasty but too thick and not enough to provide the moisture needed for the short rib, the potato cake was delicious but pan fried only on one side which was burnt and gave a bitter flavor here and there-the potato cake needed to be crispy on the outside and creamy silky potato on the inside, creamed horseradish was perfect for the plate but should have been placed on the side and not under the potato cake as the sauce took away from the flavors of the potato cake-however if the potato cake was prepared crispy on all sides then the horseradish sauce would be a perfect accompaniment to be served under the potato cake), and believe it or not there was room for the most delicious chewy chocolate fudge brownie I have ever eaten, better than my own. Because they were all out of the gelato they serve with the brownie, Ashley was kind enough to bring us some of their homemade whipped cream. OMG, it was creamy delicious, simply divine. All in all, I would highly recommend this...
