Matangos Candies Inc — Attraction in Harrisburg

We were a party of 2 entering the store. Limited in amt of people allowed in with this pandemic. We wore our masks, but owner didn't. I recommend hand sanitizer at entrance... Didn't see any if there was. Knew of this candy only when store was located in the mall. That was mamy years ago and prices were cheaper then. You don't get a discount, but who much does anymore with small family businesses. Claims that the discount is by not raising prices for odd amt of yrs. I'm not one to say. The gentleman was very cordial and gracious with his time and attitude. Of the variety of chocolates that were purchased, the only one that stood out and that would draw us back to the store, were the boxed sleeve Venetian Mints. Limited street...

The quality of a product matters but even more is how the customer feels leaving a business. I left with a smile on my face. The owner is super sweet and gave my child two free pieces of chocolate with a cheerfulness that is uncommon nowadays. The fruit flavored chocolate does have an artificial taste but the raspberry jelly/ marshmallow/ peppermint patties were outstanding! Ritchies chocolates in Florida are still the best but this is a great shop. And it's only a few minutes off of 83 and it makes for a sweet spot to stop and enjoy some goodies! I remember my Mom taking me to Matango’s Candies when I was a little girl. She always bought me dark chocolate covered cherries for Valentines Day and every now and then, we would stop in for a treat. Their staff was always so kind and pleasant. My parents now live in North Carolina so I plan to surprise them with chocolates from Matango’s for Valentines Day.
