I'm 65 years old, and I've bought a lot of stuff @ Target( not only @ Harrisonburg but @ Waynesboro, and Charlottesville). I had two credit card rewards credit cards (one given to me by the Red Cross and another by a Credit Union rewards program.) I called Target in Harrisonburg and told the Young lady who answered the phone that I had ( 2 ) credit cards printed on paper. They had my name/card #/CVC code/exp date * and everything that a credit card machine needs to accept *, and I asked her if Target could type in this info if I came in to buy something and wanted to pay with my items with these cards. She assured me that Target could and that when we would go through the line to pay the cashier would need to call a manager over to processes these cards because the cashier wasn't taught how to process a credit card this way, but a manager knew how to and that it would not be a problem, and I would be able to use these cards and there would not be a problem. So, my wife and I headed to Target and put many items in our cart. We then went through the line to pay for our items, and I presented these cards to the cashier. I explained everything above, and the cashier proceeded to call the manager. * The manager then stated that he had never been taught to do this and that we couldn't do it. We then paid for our items with our regular credit card I then told the employees that I was going to contact Target Corporate about this and that it was okay because I wish I had been told upfront from the beginning that they had never been trained to type in a credit card for the sale of items. I then went to another establishment and purchased the rest of the items we planned on purchasing that day. I've been in the retail industry for a good while now, and I know that it can be done; however, it requires a little thinking on the part of the employees. It tells me this/ Everything starts from the top down///So. I think that Target shareholders should immediately fire Target's CEO and hire a CEO who understands consumers. *We can be treated like we are dumb once, maybe twice. We decide to spend our money where the CEO has some common sense and a training program to accept. I said earlier that I got both of these cards from established businesses that have been in business a lot longer than TargetAnd I plan on telling them how I was lied to by Target and for them to put a disclaimer on their cards that says these cards cannot be used @ TargetSo go somewhere else...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am a health professional working in the Harrisonburg area. Iāve shopped at Target in Northern VA and in other states, and Target has always been my favorite place to shop at. This might have been the first time I return anything at Target and I am very astounded by the poor experience that if I ever shop at Target again I will always think back to this experience in the Harrisonburg location. Normally I donāt like returning things because I donāt like making extra trips. But I purchased a belt for my fianceās birthday which is 7/20, and it doesnāt fit him, so he told me to return it. I brought it back the night of 8/2 while out shopping. The employee Kate told me there is no item found with my card. I had to try all my other cards, to which she told me the same thing. She urged me to keep the belt since it will only be $2 in value if I return it. I know something is wrong because I have tried to consolidate all my purchases into one card. I went home, checked my account that night, found the transaction, brought back the item. This time, after explaining I had checked my bank account and the purchase is definitely within the month since itās for my fiancĆ©'s birthday 7/20, the same employee (Kate) said āwell we can try againā. This time she was able to find it with the same card I gave her the first time. All she quickly said to me was the amount will go back to my card, and that was it. No apology was offered for my time wasted trying all my cards for no reason, no apology was offered for me having to go out of my way to track down that purchase and make an extra trip just so I can make a return. Had I not checked my account, I wouldāve been refused a perfectly legal return within Target policy. Not only was the employee not able to perform her job, she was unprofessional in her customer service. Iāve come in hoping to have someone else help me check again and buy something else, but the fact that the same person helped me again, knows she made a mistake but disregarded it on top of her poor attitude actually made me turn back out and not in the mood for shopping thinking of what a ridiculous...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI do like Target for many reasons. Most of the staff has always been helpful and the store is kept tidy and clean. Since this review is for a brick and mortar physical store, I will be clear. When you advertise that you carry items in your store, the items should be on the shelves and not held in back for online purchase only forcing buyers to pay with credit instead of cash, or another form of payment which should be decided by the buyer who is paying you. Accordingly, requiring a customer to go onto an app and pay with credit when you state you have an item in stock is not reasonable either. I went to your store for allergy medicine needed right away since it was showing it was in stock. I couldn't find it anywhere and was told by your store clerk it had to be ordered online and picked up. This is ridiculous. I went 2 doors away and bought 5 boxes. You lost a large purchase for this reason and complaints to your corporate office did not yield a management response. I have had similar problems when buying books there with online vs store prices being so much higher. I think Target has lost their identity and their edge as a local convenience store to pick up items up on a moment's notice with reliable pricing. Instead they are trying too hard to compete with online sellers but sticking you with higher prices when you get to the store, and this is a total turnoff, so no more Target for this...
