The range of furnishings in the Hburg showroom is amazing and I always see accessories that interest me. Prices are good, too! Lots of sales!
My only concern is that, unless I always think to ask about the relative suitability of one material over another for our situation (having cats with claws), it seems I cannot count on receiving that important bit of advice, at least not from my salesperson the other day.
I made a decision the other day to purchase a very expensive all-leather sofa and reclining rocker chair. I fell in love with this set right after seeing and sitting in it because I had just read in another leather sofaâs description that leather could be very resistant to scratches from a petâs claws.
This sofaâs leather seemed just as tough as the other sofaâs to me, and I actually mentioned this to my salesperson. She said nothing at all, but I believed I was heard so I assumed she agreed, but I was actually wrong. I just thank God that I didnât end up spending $1,000 extra AND making what would have been a disastrous purchase decision for our family!
I ended up coming back and buying the same type loveseat and chair but in a tough fabric because the leather one didnât have a loveseat on the floor. I was shown it in fabric and was then told it actually was a much better covering for anyone with cats! Although I was still in love with the leather version, I am so glad she was willing to guide me to make the right purchase choice that.
I LOVE both pieces since having them in our new home for 3 weeks now, and Iâm ready to buy another loveseat recliner, this time with power, for my husbandâs room in memory care so we can continue watching some TV programs together each night.
Today, I called the same sales person I always go to for help and asked if they had a certain loveseat recliner on the floor and, if so, would they allow me to buy it off the floor if I picked it up? She was SO efficient as usual and called me right back after she was able to check on my request. The answer was YES to both questions, and she made me even happier by telling me this purchase qualified for a $200 discount for their Labor Day Sale! PLUS, we were still qualified to use their Synchrony financing and could get 6 mo m/0% interest, too.
I always shop here first for nice furnishings because their Customer Service and their products have never disappointed me! Everything Grandâs Home Furnishings sells is of very nice quality, their 5-yr protection plan is a terrific value because the cost is refunded if you donât use it, their delivery service has always been better than I expected, AND they have a 30-day free pickup/return policy if not happy for any reason.
I love the Harrisonburg, VA store. Itâs an enjoyable place to browse, especially on a hot summer day when youâll be offered a cool bottle of water. I recommend working with the same sales person who happens to greet you if youâre new. Mannette has gotten to know us and has always given us the best service possible. However, Grandâs has had a very stable sales force in the 10 years weâve been shopping there, so all of their sales people are very knowledgeable, and every one of them has been very attentive to our needs whenever we...
Read moreWe went into Grand Home Furnishings in Harrisonburg for the Labor Day Sale last week to look at new sectionals or couch sets for our family room. Jimmy Semmig was the design consultant who helped us out that day and I must say that it was one of the best and most easy going experiences we have had making a large purchase for our home.
We went in a little over an hour before closing time and found a few couch sets and sectionals we were trying to narrow down. Jimmy helped us measure, talk through our pros and cons, and even went searching for the last power recliner that the company had in stock altogether due to that specific model of recliner being discontinued that matched the sectional we had picked out versus the couch set. He was very professional but also didnât hurry us into any decisions and did not follow us around and linger around (which can always give an uncomfortable feeling for some people) so we definitely appreciated that.
Right at closing time we were narrowing down our final decision we just had to go home and measure and he told us to call or message him later in the evening in case we did want the sectional with the power recliner that they had only one left in stock just so he could get it locked in and ordered.
We decided that evening around 845 and I sent him a message and he responded immediately, said he would go in early and get everything ordered, and by 830 the next morning Jimmy had already ordered everything for us after double checking their stock and we have a delivery date set for this upcoming weekend and all we had to do is come in and sign some paperwork for the financing!!
This truly was the most laid back, easiest experience with a large purchase we have had in a very long time. They always do a great job at the Harrisonburg location from our experience but Jimmy was very personable, informative, and helpful with everything we needed and preferred. (We can be quite indecisive at times.)
Now we just have a couple more days until our new furniture arrives and we are so excited to update our family room! Thank you so much!!! We will definitely be returning to purchase another couch for our upstairs living room in the...
Read moreI am very happy with the furniture that I purchased from Grand a couple of weeks ago. The process was easy enough, and Grand had plenty to choose from. Delivery went smoothly and I have zero complaints on that end. Staff in the store were super nice and polite. My issue was with the salesman, Bart. He was polite but short with my husband when we both came in the first night we stopped by to shop. I noticed that he interrupted me when we were shopping and gave all of his attention to my husband. What I found most upsetting was that he turned our conversation to politics, completely unprovoked. My husband is active duty Army and I assume that after Bart found out this information he felt comfortable with telling us, "I voted for Trump and I'm proud to tell you that" and "some people voted the other way and I don't know why," along with many other political statements that were irrelevant to our buying experience. I came for a living room set, not politics. Don't you think we've heard enough of the political stuff over the last couple of years? Give it a rest, man. I came alone for my second visit to complete the purchase. I made the mistake of telling the very nice lady at the door that Bart was who I worked with last visit. She sent him my way again. He was very rude to me. I felt that I was inconveniencing him by having him check prices and delivery dates and fill out purchase paperwork for me. I was getting the living room set on sale, and he kept saying, "the company is eating this money, you understand that, right?" and "that's $200 of the company's money I'm giving away, do you understand that?" Yes, I understand. THAT'S HOW A SALE WORKS. I'm not an idiot. I recommend Grand, but I don't recommend working with Bart, and I really think that he should be evaluated by managing staff for his position. He was not great to work with and if we weren't so desperate for a couch set right then and there, we probably would've gone elsewhere...
