Haverhill YMCA — Attraction in Haverhill

Honestly astounded that this YMCA has a rating higher than 3. Yes the staff is all very friendly but not everyone is helpful. There is a ridiculous amount of disorganization and neglect in this building. The equipment is old, falling apart and unclean. There is dust everywhere and that creates problems for people with allergies. The pool is always dirty because they won't listen to the patrons and purchase a working vacuum. The chlorine is always too high or low and causes serious dry skin and rashes. There is dirt and hair clumps all around the building even after the cleaning crew has "cleaned the building" because they neglect areas that need to be cleaned (for no reason). Many patrons have left their membership here for the North Andover YMCA because the pools are always clean, staff is friendly AND happy and complaints are acknowledged and taken care of like they should be. It's embarrassing to be associated with this YMCA because they say that they hold themselves to high standards. I wish they would listen to their staff and patrons constructive criticism so that people would enjoy attending and be proud to work for...

Good place to Workout but Not a good Place to Live!!! I have severe health issues and use an inhaler and my requests haven't been meet! Living here has been nothing short of a nightmare. Yes it's Lower income housing but at what cost!!! Your health is very important! You only have 1 life people forget that!. I've lived here several years now and has cost me a TON just to Breathe this building needs a REVAP!!! It's filled with people who can't follow simple rules such as going outside to smoke not only do they smoke in thier rooms! But they also smoke crack or meth as well this nonsense needs to stop immediately!!! Maybe this will reach someone that actually cares! Again great place to Workout or Catch a swim but avoid Living here! Nothing short of a nightmare! I didn't stay long because of schedule conflicts. They had good equipment and a nice pool, but when I went to cancel my membership, I had a bunch of trouble. When I called the desk, the line was dropped, twice, before I talked to anyone. When I spoke with member relations, I was asked to write an e-mail, and when the person on the other end went to look up an address to sent it to, I was on hold for ten minutes before the line dropped again. After trying to call several more times, I went over to the Y personally and said I wanted to cancel my membership, and they handed me a simple cancellation form. Why didn't they say I could do that in the first place? Aside from that, the staff was overly busy and sometimes unhelpful, or didn't get back with you on things such as classes...
