I go pee pee for Pepe's! Metaphorically speaking, of course ;p
Ginormous portions! Pepe's Finest Mexican Food takes the place of former tenant, Taco Bell. Same layout, including drive-thru. Whenever driving down Carson St., I noticed how busy Pepe's always seemed to be. In need of something new for lunch, we came here to fill up.
Pepe's breakfast burrito- Huge ass burrito, bro! Their signature burrito, Pepe's breakfast burrito comes with choice of meat or combo thereof. It is served wet, either with red or green sauce. This bad boy lasted for two meals, even for this devourer of food. I wasn't expecting beans & rice inside the burrito, as I prefer breakfast burritos w/o, but that's only a minor nitpick. Pepe's breakfast burrito was good, and quite filling.
Carne asada fries- Look at all that guac! Look at all that salsa! Enough to feed a small nation, the carne asada fries are not for the faint of heart. Upon first opening the Styrofoam tray, I thought "Good God!". It's definitely something you're not going to see on a "Light & Fit" menu.
Service was good. When our food was ready, the staff threw in a free chicken enchilada & taco plate. Score! Seating is via tables & booths. Compliments to their restroom. They're spotless! Being Hawaiian Gardens, I expect to see markers & knifework adorning all surfaces of the restroom. So, either Pepe's restrooms are well taken care of, or they replace materials that are damaged by graffiti often.
Parking is via their own private lot. Pepe's is located across the street from The Gardens Casino.
The way to my heart is by way of massive portions. Pepe's has calorie-laden plates that keep your appetite in check for a long time. I found the food to be delicious, and the clean & inviting interior a great environment to stay and have a meal. I'm eager to peruse the menu & try something new the next time I visit Pepe's.

Read moreOn opening day we had lunch at this place. Ordered green chili wet burrito plate and green chile pork plate. We received red chili on both plates. Fine no biggie, flavor was good but the rice was undercooked. I figured I would give this place another chance since we want to support our local eateries. Well we went again today 11/21 for dinner. Ordered 2 enchilada plates, one with the works the other with no cheese. Went to get our drinks they ran out of horchata which is what we wanted, got soda instead. Waited about 15 mins for our plates, received both plates with cheese on them. Took one back and told them we requested no cheese. They offered to give me a side plate of beans with no cheese, I said the whole plate has cheese, I want a new plate. They said ok took it back. The plate they did get correct the rice was undercooked, again. We waited about another 15 mins and still no plate, went to the counter to check and man said "oh yeah the one with no cheese" didnt say if it was ready or anything. Waited another 5-10 mins one of the workers comes by and asked what was our order again. I said forget it just give me my money back. Last time I come...
Read moreI really enjoy eating here my favorite is the chile relleno and the crunchy tacos. They are definitely not stingy on their cheese. They use their cheese very sparingly. I'm a cheese lover so I love it. My mom likes their chilaquilas. Another thing that I love are the Chiles toreados the roasted yellow Chili Peppers they are deliciouly spicy with a light seasoning on them and they have pickled red onions they are delicious they are a bit you know the chili( the onions and salsa are free condiments) I don't eat a lot of spice but I love them and their green salsa is delicious only because I don't like spice. But if you like spice then you might like the red salsa instead. You might have to ask them or request them if you go through the drive-thru and you've never been here you may not know but they used to have a salsa bar they still have it but you can't access it you have to ask for it and they will Bag it up for you. This location does have a drive-through which has amazing but you can also walk in to pick up your order the side door is closed do you have to use the front entrance. They also have a restroom and the parking lot is huge...
