St. Louis County Library–Prairie Commons Branch — Attraction in Hazelwood

We absolutely love the prairie Commons branch and all the staff are so welcoming and incredibly helpful. Every time my family and I have signed up for an activity, asked to check out a resource or attended an event such as story time, we fall more and more in love with our local library. One area that does fall short is the upkeep of the outdoor play area. We wish that it was less of a trip hazard with all of the rocks spread around and it would be wonderful if it was a larger area for kids to be able to safely run around and move their bodies in a beautiful well maintained area. We love the indoor area that has been expanded and of course the outer air does not keep us from visiting the library frequently. I just love the new setup. They finally put in a lower catalog computer with a chair for people who can't stand too long &/or people in wheelchairs. The new kids section is wonderful for my grandson! I've always loved being able to place new release books & DVDs on hold and just picking them up each week, but this new design seems even more efficient for people on the go. I haven't had to use Redbox or Netflix for new movies in years, which also means I haven't spent a dime (except maybe a few late fees here & there)! They always have brand new titles of books too! I'm also guilty of perusing their online book & video selections & have even used the interlibrary loan on occasion. It is one of the smaller libraries in the area, but a convenient location on a busy road off of Interstate 270. I don't use much of the facilities if I want to check out a book I usually put it on hold online and pick it up and that experience has always been great. They do have a small play area for the children that is enclosed with a tucked away reading nook that is a lot of fun for the little ones.
