I have walked out of this hospital twice, and both times for the same reason. I do not want to see this happen to someone else who is sick and in need of help.
The first time I went in for a hemiplegic migraine that wasn't letting up. The hospital was busy, so though I was triaged almost immediately, I spent almost two hours in the waiting room. It happens, and that's not my gripe with this hospital.
When I did finally get a room, I waited a little over an hour without seeing a doctor or a nurse. Not one person came in my room to check on me, give me a blanket, or examine me in that time. However, the doctors and nurses were all having a great time gathering in the hallway and talking and laughing loudly about their personal lives for extended periods of time. I tried to be patient, but I finally went and asked when I could be seen and was told that it was shift change and it could be another hour. Shift change didn't stop everyone from continuing to stand around talking.
In agony, I decided it was best if I left. To be clear, I wouldn't have left if a doctor or nurse had at least poked their head in at this point, but I had only been triaged in a three hour period and the doctors and nurses seemed more interested in their personal conversations than seeing patients. I had lost trust in them and felt more comfortable starting over somewhere more professional.
After asking to be discharged, a woman came in the room wanting me to sign paperwork that explicitly stated that I had seen a doctor and understood that I was leaving against their advice. I was absolutely not going to sign a paper that said that when the whole reason I was leaving was because I hadn't seen a doctor. I politely explained this to the woman, but she was more interested in arguing with me over it. I get that this is an insurance thing for them, but again, the whole reason I'm leaving is because I have NOT seen anyone. Since I wasn't hooked up to anything, nor did I have an IV, I just left.
I was sent back to this facility by Urgent Care, who recommended I go here. I was not wild about the idea, but I thought I would give them a second chance. I was put in the room directly across from the nurses station. There was a whole group of nurses and doctors gathered around loudly talking about their Christmas plans. One nurse even brought another a present and they had to discuss it. How nice for them!
I sat there for more than a half an hour without being seen, but that was okay, because they were all content ignoring patients to have their personal conversations. All in all, I had spent an hour and twenty-two minutes at this facility without seeing anyone this time, including my time in the waiting room. Seeing where this was going, I didn't bother to waste more of my time or attempt to be discharged. I just walked out. They were so into their conversation that not one of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've never had such a horrible experience at a medical facility. The doctor I had did not listen to one word I said. She created a problem I did not have and never said I did. She insisted on hooking me up to IVs and doing CT scans for phantom abdominal pain she invented. I made them take the IV out (I have bad veins from years of medical issues.) and refused to the CT scan, as it had nothing to do with why I was there. Never, at any point, did I say I had abdominal pain. In fact, I pointed out to her several times that I was not here for that and it wasn't an issue I was suffering from, only to have her turn around and argue with me. She seemed to excel at arguing.
The other strange thing was that she kept trying to push painkillers on me, despite me saying no several times. I was having issues peeing, severe burning when I peed and some pain in my back where my kidneys were. The only reason I went to the ER is because it came on very quickly and my doctor couldn't get me in right away. Nothing painkiller worthy, but I was rightfully worried about an infection. For those symptoms, she's ordering all kinds of tests and trying to give me painkillers. I felt like she just wanted to make the most money for the hospital and didn't care about the patient at all.
She became very rude with me when I refused the tests I didn't need and then went on to tell me my blood work was clean and so was my urine dip. I don't know if she doesn't realize that test results go into patients' charts or if she just didn't care, but I saw the test results and so did my PCP. My urine had blood in it and my blood work was not clean. It was VERY obvious I had an infection. The only good thing they did was send my results to my doctor, who immediately recognized that I did, in fact, have a kidney infection and put me on medication. The ER doctor told me to my face, and very rudely, that there was no infection and I needed a CT scan. She shouldn't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy neurologist had it set up for me to go to the er (which I did because of a hypoglycemia episode, Dr said I got there ok?? I was supposed to ask to be admitted to see the top neurologist to have all the tests done. I have white matter disease in the brain which causes myclonic tremors, Ataxia, short term memory loss and difficulty walking and balance issues. We were supposed to run all the tests to see what is wrong with me. The doctor in the er just let me go without any glucose and he said that she was not in that day. I played a voice mail of her confirming the date and time but it didn't matter to him. In his notes he had written that I was making the tremors up and discharged me without further testing I shook a car with 4 people in it yet he said that I was making it up. Absolutely useless. If the drs make an appointment they should be there and not act like you are a hypochondriac. My neurologist called the neurologist there, and explained what had had happened and they are no longer referring people to her. You go to a hospital as a last resort and they call you a liar. I will never go there again so now we are just treating the symptoms and I could have received the correct medication for whatever I have. Now I am just a ticking time bomb. My neurologist was so mad as she reviews the MRI's and she can see the degeneration and I have been going to her for 5 years and she knows I have difficulty falling asleep and waking up. This hospital HAD a good reputation but if the drs don't believe me, he could have called her to verify the voice mail which was the correct, so much for helping people. I will never step a foot in there again and I have told all my friends and my neurologist refuse to refer any patient there. I did not even get an apology note from the neurologist nor er Dr Truly upsetting. With that kind of care who in their right mind...
