This place has been here for a looong time, but hasn't always has great facilities and upkeep. The past few years the city has been pumping a lot of extra cash into upkeep and renovations. There are some nice, relatively recent improvements make to docks and areas around the pond. There is a playground for kids, a nice secluded walking trail on the backside and a paved walkway all around the pond. There are 3 docks in total where you can walk out over the water and fish or observe. There is a sand volleyball pit and pavilion to have parties at. The pond is home to dozens of various duck breeds which stroll around as they please. The pond is stocked with small fishery trout which provide an excellent opportunity to introduce fishing to kids in an easy and fun way. It is tucked away and surrounded by a thicket of trees on all sides and it seems like the weather is always good here due to low wind at this location when a lot of surrounding areas are more affected. This is a great place to hang out and do nothing or any of the many activities packed into this relatively small area. There is enough room for a lot of people to move around without feeling cramped, even when it's very busy. There are also large grassy areas you can just sit and have a picnic or lay out in the sun. If you haven't been here, you should definitely...
Read moreSuch a fun place. The water in the pond is nice and warm, and there is loads of room around the park to sit on nice soft grass. Most of it is in open, full sun, so it’s helpful to bring a portable pavilion. There are, however, many places in shade along the perimeter in between trees. We didn’t get there until about 1:00pm on Labor Day and were still able to find a shady spot. It wasn’t right by the water, but if I get to sit in the shade and only have to walk 100 yard or so to get to the pond, then that’s a bonus. The pond itself isn’t huge, but is certainly at least large enough for people to get in with canoes and paddle boards and not be on top of each other. There were dozens of people on the water while we were there and it didn’t feel at all crowded. The water was super murky. You couldn’t see more than about a foot down into the water. It didn’t smell bad, though, and there was no moss or algae. The parking, though, was a mess. There’s on long, narrow road that goes in and people line up all along it, turning it into essentially a single lane road, which means the cars coming out had to take turns with cars coming in, in order to pass in certain places. There’s simply not enough parking to accommodate all the people that are in the park. The parking is the only really significant drawback...
Read moreThis is a great fishing hole if you know what to do! Some times of year are very slow however. Now's a great time! My favorite trout method there is bread. It really doesn't matter where your at on the pond. Bread is my go to. Spinner baits have also caught me a couple 20+inchers and 3 pounders. I caught a 7 pound largemouth there last Sunday. (In two weeks I beat that fish with an 8.12lb largemouth bass which is just 2 pounds under the Utah State record and about 4 inches under the catch and release Utah record largemouth) Night crawler, powerbait and trout mallows are also good options which I've had success with. The best time to fish it for trout is early mornings, especially with lures, but if you can't fish the morning, go ahead and bring some bread. I caught 20 trout last Sunday with bread from 7am-2pm. People typically use Texas rigs here for bass, but I say mix it up a bit. The bass like moving injured type fish right now so don't be afraid to throw a jerkbait or swimbait. There's also plenty of other wildlife around including squirrels, birds, butterflies, beetles, and even bullfrogs. Anyway, I have a YouTube channel with plenty of info on fishing if you're new, or interested, I recommend you check it out! fishingwithleif is the...
