Black Hills Institute Of Geological Research — Attraction in Hill City

This place is so amazing! If you are interested in history (American/Related to Dinosaurs), dinosaurs at all, or crystals and gemstones along with other interesting natural creations then this is the place for you. The space seemed small on the outside but I think actually compliments the exhibit well as you go through and see how much information there is to take in and more at times felt like the space expanded with how things are arranged! There is a whole room dedicated to crystals and such and if you're looking to purchase your own (in any style and form), the gift shop is incredibly priced. The amount of Dinosaur material they have is awesome and again the gift shop had many delightful items. This place is worth stopping in if you're in the area for Mt. Rushmore or other attractions. Also Hill City was a delight to explore which I hadn't planned on but the joy from the shop put me in an exploring mode 😆. Also open space so no real waiting and they have a kids...

This Beautiful establishment is the most incredible natural history museums I have ever seen. The fact that this museum is built off of a small gymnasium and still has more fossils than any other museum I've ever seen, all of which are from incredible animals is simply extraordinary. All of this is ran by Peter Larson, the man who helped discover some of the most famous fossils of all time, including Sue. This is probably the one of the most entertaining places to go in he black hills, second only to the Reptile Gardens (which is given since of course the animals are still alive), and is definitely the most informative.
