I wish they would have told us "we can't accomodate your group right now" instead one part of our group arrived and asked for a table for 12 ... they said it would be a 20-25 minute wait which was fine since we had part of the group coming in about 10 minutes.
When the second part of the group arrived we asked the hostess about the table and no one seemed to know what was going on. After 3 attempts the hostess finally figured out what was happening (apparently someone else took the initial request and didn't tell the hostess) and said someone was setting up a "table in a side room" ... well a few minutes later we were seated at 3 high top tables next to the front door. Not ideal, but it was 8pm and we wanted to eat.
We were greeted by our server who took our drink orders, within a few minutes drinks were served but the server couldn't remember what ANYONE ordered so we had to shuffle drinks (it's not hard to take orders in one direction and deliver them in the same direction).About 15 minutes past before we saw the server again to place food orders. Side salads and soups arrived in about 10 minutes ... then we waited an hour for our entrees ... meanwhile the server never even asked if we needed a second drink (lost revenue?).
When the food arrived 8 of the 12 of us had poorly prepared entrees. The "sirloin tips" were dried out from being overcooked, on the way to being jerky. The "bison strip" steak while red inside was tough as shoe leather. The taco salad was a shell filled with white (not green) iceberg lettuce with two pieces of tomato, taco meat, and olives (even those were specifically requested to be left off - when that was noticed by the server we received a unapologetic "sorry"). The chicken Florentine was dry and stringy.
Needless to say we weren't surprised when the Sherriff deputy came in to escort a rowdy drunk customer out of the place.
If it's a burden to serve tables of 12 people, then just tell us that. We had perfectly fine experiences in other restaurants in Hill City and Custer. We would rather have received good service and properly prepared food than be told you can accomodate us when you really aren't willing...
Read moreWaited to be seated for around 5 minutes. That’s fine. It was busy and we weren’t in a hurry. We asked if we could sit upstairs on the outdoor patio as we were a table of 2 and was told it was full. We were sat at a high top right next to the stairs that go up to the patio. Within the first 10 minutes we were there 14 people went up to the patio while only 2 came down. We were planning on staying and having drinks after our meal which was fantastic. The brisket sandwich was truly amazing. That’s the only positive experience we had. Ordered a second round of drinks and my wife received a margarita that wasn’t anything close to a margarita. We owned a bar for years and we aren’t sure what it was. We verified that she was served the correct drink and apparently she was. We decided to pay and leave. While leaving I asked the hostess who sat us if we need reservations to sit upstairs. She was instantly on the defense. I stated about the 14 plus people I seen go upstairs, by this time it was well over 25 with about 7 to 8 coming down. She stated that it’s based on “flow” whatever that means. She stated she verified it was full with a radio although we waited for 5 minutes to sit and she immediately told us it was full without verifying. We know she didn’t verify as we seen her walking through the restaurant the entire time we waited prior to sitting us. She said there was a rear exit and that people may have exited to the alley rather than the front. So by her explanation almost 20 people exited out the back and 5 left through the front. We’ve been here numerous times as we are local and very few people use the rear exit as the parking isn’t sufficient back there. It was excuse after excuse rather than a sincere attempt to rectify the situation. Rather than just saying she messed up and apologize she continued to right fight. As locals we won’t ever be back again. Too bad because that brisket...
Read moreOwner extremely ignorant & RUDE! We live locally & purchased a 50% off coupon from Click Big Deals. We paid $10 for $20 worth of product, which was CLEARLY stated on the coupon (and in English). We were dining with family from out of state & they also had a coupon for the same deal. We informed the waitress (who was the daughter of the owner) of this prior to ordering & she acknowledged. Well, since we were just there for lunch, each of our bills were slightly over $20. So, after our coupon was applied, the remaining balance should have been minimal. The owner came to our table & said "I know this coupon doesn't SAY this, but what it MEANS is that you get $10 off per TABLE, so I can deduct $5 per each of your tickets. Because otherwise, I'll be giving you free food & I'm not in the business of giving away free food." REALLY????? She thought it would be ok for her to willy nilly change the verbiage of the coupon? We politely tried to explain what the coupon verbiage actually SAID and MEANT, but she wouldn't listen & just caused a scene, continuing to argue...apparently too ignorant to understand. Finally, she tore off with our coupons & said she would do it this time, but never again. When she returned, she THREW our tickets on the table & WICKEDLY said "Enjoy your FREE food", then turned & stormed off. Seriously???? Wow! So, with this review, I am hoping to save others from experiencing the same kind of rudeness. Never have I been treated this way at a restaurant and by the owner, no less. She is not only losing our future business, but also our family, friends, co-workers and hopefully anyone else we come in contact with that we share this story with. We also stopped at the Chamber of Commerce on our way home & informed them of our experience....
