Mangiamo Wood Fired Pizza — Restaurant in Hill City

First, parking is horrible. No painted lines to park and limited space. Another driver squeezed in next to me and opened their door into my car door while I was still sitting in it being polite so they could open their door and get out first. The worst part was they didn't even care. Not even an apology. Painted parking spaces could avoid these types of property damage from occurring. I have a custom vehicle and now I have one with a small door ding in the side of it. Once inside, their service was pretty good but their drink menu was limited in my opinion. We dont drink sodas and my wife doesnt drink alcohol. That didn’t leave much else to really choose from besides sugary lemonade. Food came out fast and our server was very friendly. Best part about the place. Food though. Not so much. This was our second trip here and we were reluctant as our first experience wasnt good with the food. First time we had the Sicilian style pizza and it was one of the worst pizzas Ive eaten in a long time. We thought we’d give it another try with the American style on this second trip. It was better but still only mediocre. They had two different kinds of pork on the pizza which was just to much for us so I asked him to substitute one of the pork for mushrooms instead. Our bill showed an additional $3 for the added mushroom. I felt it should have been substituted for free. I just chose a different topping instead of the pork that is much cheaper for them to purchase anyways than pork is. Total scam. It shocks me how many brag about this place. They obviously dont know good pizza. A good NY style pizza can really set the bar high for anywhere else. This place is NOT NY style if thats what your looking for so don't let the name fool you. Do not order pizza for takeout from this restaurant! We stopped and ate at this restaurant for the first time about 7 days ago. We ordered a couple of beers and 2 small pizzas. The Margherita and the Pizza Bianca. We did not have to wait long to enjoy delicious pizza and we made a mental note to go back here when in town. Tonight, Sep 14, 2025, the weather was on the cooler side and we decided to order takeout. Same 2 pizzas as what we had enjoyed, recently. When ordering on the phone, my wife requested that the Pizza Bianca be prepared without Prosciutto and asked for artichokes and broccoli, instead. She was told the pizzas would be ready in about 25 minutes. We are staying barely 5 minutes away and I got there in less than 20 minutes. The pizzas were already waiting. I quickly opened the top box to confirm it was what we ordered. As we prefer to eat pizza when it is hot, I wasted no time and hurried back home. Well, it turns out, that both pizzas were cold. The Margherita’s crust was burned and the sauce had no taste. The Bianca was worse. Not only was it cold, too, it had been prepared including the Prosciutto. It felt like these pizzas had come out of a freezer and were prepared very carelessly. Would I ever order takeout from Mangiamo! again? Absolutely not! Worth the stop for a quick bite or a longer sit down meal. The service was top notch with the food complementing the delicious pizza. There is more to get on the menu like pasta salads, a sandwich and even kids mac and cheese, but the old world pizza is amazing. I have no complaints and when I'm back in town I will be back. If you like this place like I do, ask someone for the loyalty punch card!
