We did a private rental of Ocean Plays for our child’s birthday party over the weekend. Don’t be fooled by the humble exterior: the facility is fantastic, but first I need to rave about the staff. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation time to find the facility closed and two staff members, Rayna and another wonderful lady (sorry I missed your name!) cleaning, sanitizing, and tidying up the entire place. When we went in, they were beyond helpful—asking what they could do and making suggestions as to how we could most efficiently use the space. They offered to carry in supplies from our car, set up the decor and party signs, brought tape and scissors for things we needed, everything. They never once were bossy or restrictive, and instead were the most gracious and helpful people. They even popped on masks without being asked as they noticed our party was wearing them. Nothing was too big of an ask for them, and they coordinated things I hadn’t even thought of, such as when to do cake, rounding up the children for dinner, cleaning up spills, offering bootie covers for parents who didn’t wish to remove their shoes, everything. I just can’t get over how extremely helpful they were. The facility was perfect for our party of approximately fifty people with still more room to spare. The kids in attendance ranged from 1.5 to 10 years old and everyone had an awesome time. There were slides, a ball pit, climbing things, and shooting cannons (which were not loud or startling at all for our group, which included some sensitive kids). Everything looked new—no rips or duct taped patches, crushed balls, or dirty floors. For the adults there were lovely couches with electrical socket plugs and massage chairs. They also offer snacks and drinks for a reasonable fee, and there are two individual restrooms. There is a huge emphasis on cleanliness and hand sanitizer was placed everywhere. The main area alongside the play area had the couches and tables that held everyone comfortably, and there was also a smaller side room that had two tables and a long table running the length of the wall, perfect for our pizza bar. We brought in outside food—huge plus to be able to do that, though they do offer delivery of pizza schmizza. At the end of the party we did no cleanup—it was so stress-free. For all of this service and private rental of the full space, where you don’t have to worry about strangers or kids wandering off, the price was beyond reasonable. I highly recommend a party at...
Read moreFun enough but the shooters don't work very well, it was very crowded, and they closed three hours early without discounting admission in order to have a private party. They also wipe down the tables but the equipment isn't cleaned at all where all the kids were playing. If they have standard open play hours, they either shouldn't have private functions during those hours or acknowledge the decreased value in the truncated admission to play period by discounting admission cost. Check their website before coming to see if they happen to be closing early. I experienced this on a Thursday and I was already there with kids out of the car before knowing they were closing three hours early. It's also a very small space, so it's quite loud in there. For those reasons, one star.
Edited in reply to response: I would not expect a discount for just me. When you shorten the play time in order to have a private party, you are double dipping, charging every customer you made leave early for admission and then also charging for for the private party. If that is how you operate, fine, but I think it's a bad business practice and unfair to your customers, and I will take my business elsewhere. Also, I did not appreciate you coming up to me after I left a one star review to try to justify your actions, when I'd been sitting there for about an hour already. It was awkward and disturbed me as I was trying to relax and stop being irritated with your policies. If I had wanted to speak with you in person, I would have. And you knew I was upset about the issue of charging twice but did not come up to me to "apologize" until after I left a bad review. Lends some shade on your claim you don't care about bad reviews when you ignored the situation until I left one. Also, I'll add in that the older kids go absolutely crazy and jump on and run over the little ones, since there is no designated space for different age groups. And the way the play structure is tucked into the corner made me uncomfortable, as it was impossible to walk around to always keep an eye on my son. I saw other parents also worrying about where their children were, with other kids in their party telling them they were in the...
Read moreMy 6 year old son was invited for a birthday party 3/25/23 and the place was PACKED. Children running into each other and getting hurt left and right. My son ended up landing on some of the hard play equipment and heavily bruised his chest to the point we almost went urgent care as the pain was that intense. 20 minutes after taking a break he still couldn’t apply any pressure to either arm as he would cry in pain. So we left. We were there only an hour. There were only two employees at the front desk chatting it up with each other not watching the door as kids were just walking in and out- great safety measures! I left with my son and they didn’t even notice so don’t leave your children there for a birthday party (so glad I didn’t) as the staff won’t watch your kids to make sure the right child is leaving with the right adult. They ask you to sign in but I don’t see why. No supervision on the floor as there were only two employees for about 70 plus people in this very small space and the front area was so full of shoes you could barely walk without tripping because it was obvious they were over capacity even for fire code. Great concept- awful staffing and not safe for your children. We won’t ever...
