Gargiulo Produce — Attraction in Hillside

I work at a school so this may not make sense to some viewers. Also, I should mention I usually never feel the need to write a review but this company has really frustrated me.

I have now had 2 bad encounters with Gargiulo Produce. One a few months ago when they tried to back a delivery truck up onto the pavers of a main school entry. In doing so, they scratched the hand railing and knock a paver out of place. When I sent pictures and explained what happened they basically told me it wasn't their issue. They have not fixed it.

The second time was today when I called to check on the ETA of our delivery. (Just to note, for the whole year they have been delivering between 8am-930am, so I figured that is our delivery time so that is what I am staffed for). Today they said the delivery wouldn't be here until 2:15pm, food service usually leaves at 1:30, and unfortunately, we do not have the place to store a full delivery for 3 schools. We only have reach-in refrigeration no walk-ins, so someone needs to deliver to our other 2 schools (again referencing the delivery time it has been all year). I asked them if we cannot get anyone to stay until that time what happens. The lady said they could try and setup a re-delivery. I was then put on hold for 20 mins. So, I called on my other line and was put on hold for another couple of minutes only to have a man (I think was the owner) get on the phone and rudely explain how DoD works. He stated they will not setup a new delivery and I am supposed to be here until 230 to receive the delivery and the only way the produce is at the price it is, is if it is delivered on our school's delivery day and that's that. He ranted a minute longer and then hung up on me. Not letting me say a word or ask a questions. What the rude man said may be the case but I do not think it required someone to be so dismissive when I was told something differently to begin with. Maybe they should look into a tracker they can share with customers to allow them to check the deliveries ETA if it is going to be changing so...

Just wanted to share my wonderful experience I had with this awesome place! I have a side hustle which is in the industry of healthy beverages I have my own bottles, blenders, labels, and everything else I would need as far as manufacturing my product except one thing. We were missing fruit and veggies, I’m talking about a lot of fruits and veggies! I was referred by a friend if mines to the local wholesale of produce, Garguilo’s! Myth has is they supply all of the sweet greens in Manhattan which is a huge deal because they only buy greens from the most reputable places. The facility is huge and I spoke to the sales reps about my needs and they took care of all my needs and gave me a great price on a wholesale deal! I bought oranges, apples, mangoes, kale, and spinach in bulk. The fruits and veggies I purchased were very fresh after I took everything home and washed all my produce it tasted great! After I blended everything and actually filled up the bottles the finished product came out just the way I wanted it and I give a lot of credit to garguilos for having fresh fruits and veggies! I sold my entire inventory very rapidly and now it’s time to get more product from my favorite supplier and that would just do happen to be garguilos thank you so much for being awesome! This place I will definitely deliver again. The staff was polite and professional. I arrived around 10pm at night and checked in. Drive all the way around the building near dock door 26 for the shipping and receiving office. Plenty of space for backing and staging while waiting for a dock door. Within 30 mins of my arrival I was given a door. I did receive a call to come inside because one of my pallets shifted. I was advised I could restock or I could pay $90 fee for them to restack. I’m a company driver so that’s not my position to make that call. So I reached out to my company to request the EFS money code for payment. The unload time took less than 2hrs I choose to watch inside while unloading just to confirm only one pallet needed to be restocked. Everything was all good received my signed bols and receipt.
