The people at Geek Squad have been to most helpful, lovely people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I’ve read the 1 and 2 star reviews on here and don’t understand how their experiences were so bad. All of the people I’ve talked to and worked with (and I’ve talked to and worked with most of the people there) have been super helpful and polite.
I’m not going to get into my whole computer life story because no one cares, but long story short, I bought a pretty inexpensive HP laptop, hated it, exchanged it for a different HP (HP Envy) and payed the difference. The laptop itself was great, but I had horrible audio issues with it when it was brand new. The people at Geek Squad did full diagnostics and eventually found that it was a driver issue (that’s on HP’s end. Nothing they could fix). I’ve been in and out of Geek Squad since the beginning of December with my old laptop and new one(s). Eventually, they exchanged the newer HP for one of the same to make sure it wasn’t a manufactures issue. By this point, I’ve had this laptop for far longer than the 15 day return date, but they took care of me and let me exchange it for a different brand. They set it up and took care of me. I JUST picked up my new Asus laptop today, Feb 22, 2019 (which I exchanged the newer HP for), and brought them all Dunkin Donuts because they are angels in real life. They are sweet, knowledgeable, and honest people. I highly recommend them to anyone who has computer issues. I work retail as well, so what I’ll tell you is this: Be polite and patient with them, and they’ll be polite and...
Read moreI took in my outdated computer because the screen stopped working. The guy was nice and said that because it was an old windows that they dd not service it but gave me a referral. He also said that if I purchased the computer from Best Buy that they would transfer the data on my old computer to the new one for free. Fast forward 2 weeks...I made my appointment to transfer my data. Online chat said that there would be a $99 fee. I explained what the guy said at Geek Squad and chat said that each store has their own policies and promos so it could be different but that's what the standard is. I take it in and sure enough it cost me $99+ to just get my data transferred. Since I did not know of any other place nor had the time to start looking around I was stuck paying. Geek Squad is a racket! They charge an tremendous amount of money for things that really are not difficult to do but because they know someone may not have the equipment to do - so they can charge. I wouldn't mind paying it if I had to. But, the main reason I bought the new computer was because the other guy told me that my data would be transferred for free. BTW ...
Do not let them touch your car! I had a remote start installed in my car a few weeks ago. They did a bad job. The steering wheel seems to have been removed and put back on in such a way that now it scrapes the steering column when I turn and has become damaged. I can't unlock the door with my key fob anymore. I have to put the key in the key hole like it's the 80's. The car starts if I accidentally click my key fob twice when locking my doors. And worst of all is now my car doesn't even start consistently. I thought I was stranded at the gas station yesterday because my car wouldn't start again after I got gas. I kept trying over and over for about 8 or 9 times and then it finally started. I'm very upset because I've tried to call 5 times and speak to a manager but they won't get me to a manager and no manager will return my call. I guess I will have to just drive all the way to Hiram to request to speak to a manager in person to remedy this situation. I will update this review to at least post what they do to rectify this if someone there will contact me. So far I've only expected bad work and worse customer service from them. Do not trust these people...
