I want to start by saying that I don't want this review to be an attack on the restaurant, but that I'm writing this in hopes that the right person or manager can read this and make the proper changes. We have been to Olivia about a half dozen times since it opened and the food is always great. Tonight was no different, but the service and atmosphere were amongst the worst if not the worst I have ever experienced. I don't want to say the waiters name publicly but if somebody at Olivia were to respond to this I would happily tell you. We are a young couple in our mid 20's and felt disrespected almost immediately, we feel like it was most likely because of our age and we both look very young. We were sat in the back corner by the window when there were plenty of bigger more comfortable tables in a better part of the restaurant open, but that's not a big deal. We were celebrating an anniversary and immediately after we sat time before we even had time to settle in the waiter came and pretty much grabbed the napkin and abruptly tossed it into my boyfriends lap. This wasn't a "here let me get your napkin for you"...this was aggressive and hostile for no apparent reason. After this we were not approached by our waiter for at least 15 minutes and sat there wondering what was going on. We also had extraordinarily long waits for the food to come out and for the check to be brought to us after finishing dessert. Throughout the meal we saw the waiter cater extremely well to all the other tables he was taking care of but he seemed completely blind to us. From the time we sat down until the time we paid the bill we were at the restaurant an hour and 55 minutes, which needless to say is out of control bad. We've been in and out of here in 35-40 minutes before. Also you guys need to take control of customers who have had too much to drink or are acting unruly so that it doesn't ruin the experience for other customers. There was an older table of four next to us where a woman was celebrating her birthday. She was clearly wasted and even spilled wine all over herself at one point. Over the course of an hour including the time we were eating she was openly FaceTiming people and screaming about how it was her birthday. She must have had 5 different long obnoxious FaceTime conversations and we couldn't even enjoy our food, she was being rude to everyone else in the restaurant and it was completely disrespectful and yet nobody did anything or said anything to her. Furthermore, after her FaceTime conversations another family came into the restaurant that must have known her and together they continued to make a loud scene for another 15 minutes. Both parties were screaming and prancing around the restaurant like they owned the place. We couldn't even converse with one another with all this chaos going on and yet once again nobody at the restaurant seemed to have a problem that 8 people walking around the middle of the restaurant talking at the top of their lungs and not even sitting at their table. Like come on, how do you think this comes off to the other customers? Like I said we have been here several times but unfortunately this may be our last. I would be more than happy to speak with a manager if...
Read moreYesterday my friends and I tried Olivia Restaurant for first time. This was our experience. The place is spacious which is a good thing. They have 3 different type of chairs, one of them are not for dinning but for an office waiting room as they are very low and unfortunately we got the low ones and had to pull ourselves another type of chair from another table near by. (I uploaded a picture of the low chairs) The male server was nice and we order fresh mozzarella, fried calamary for appetizers, and they were great. For main entre we ordered two seabass, a chicken parmesan, and for me a chicken marsala with spinach, broccoli rabe some sliced boiled potatoes, (I know the dish very well, but for me it was Ok) il Mulino Cucina Italiana makes it better, as they add more marsala wine and mushrooms, and served with roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli. one of the sea bass tasted disgustingly fishy, we asked the server to take it away and ordered Chicken marsala instead. While we were waiting for the chicken marsala a new female server approached and ask if we were waiting for a dish, I asked her if she knew about the news with the sea bass and she replied (I just arrived so I do not know) Now, the question is, how can a restaurant of this category change a server and not communicate to the other server what is going on with that table before approaching the to guests and ask if they are waiting for something, (Management should correct the communication among the servers) at the end three of us were finishing with the meal and the chicken marsala was taking long time to arrive, and my friend chose to cancel it and ended up eating a bit of my chicken marsala and a bit of the chicken parmesan. No one approached to apologize. For dessert we ordered chocolate cake. (it was good). We asked for the check and they did took one of the sea bass off, (We paid the check). When my friend went to the restroom, she complained to the manager and the server came back to ask again for the credit card to process the payment again as they changed their mind and were going to take off the dessert for the inconvenience, (How will you see this?). This was my first and last time at...
Read moreThe general benchmark for a good restaurant is said to be whether I can get full on a Monday or Tuesday night. Well, that benchmark gave me some preconceived concerns about my visit at Olivia on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was pretty empty, with maybe 12 guests in their very large dining area. However, from the moment we were sat down for our anniversary dinner, my girlfriend and I understood that these preconceived concerns were all for nothing.
The service from the second we sat down has to have been the best I have ever experienced, out of high end restaurants, or small mom and pops places, this here takes the cake. We were attended to by 3 waiting staff, 1 of which constantly filled our glasses and removed empty dishes, and 2 other which attended to our food orders and ensured our satisfaction. While they did speak a bit like siri reading back a message, they did an excellent job with their attentiveness and care.
And of course, the main show would be the food. We started with their Mozzarella Romana, a fancy name for fresh fried Mozzarella, which was excellent, supplemented by a delicious fresh marinara sauce. I continued with their papardelle with short rib ragu, this was the best of its kind that I've ever had. The sauce was delicious, the pasta was fresh made in house and that was certainly noticeable, and unlike other times I've eaten this type of dish, there were actual chunks of short rib braised beef in there, which were rich in flavor and incredibly tender. My girlfriend ordered the chicken parm, served with a side of angel hair pasta in tomato sauce. This dish was HUGE, enough to last us both for lunch the following day. The sauce was tasty, albeit a little more bitter than I'd hoped, and the chicken was flavorful and well cooked. Lastly we finished with their creme brulee, which like the rest of the meal, was delicious. The custard was very flavorful and light, and was served at a perfect temperature, staying cold below the freshly torched sugar crust.
Needless to say, this place is absolutely recommended, the ambience is fitting for date nights or festive dinners, while the pricing is fitting for even casual dinners. I'll...
