I went here with my child and a few of her friends after her birthday party at the childrens museum 3/15 around 3:40pm. The guy taking tickets was extremely rude and just uncomfortable to be around, couldn't smile or anything. (Hello you work in a place with kids that many of them find this place absolutely magical!) The first time the kids got on the ride he didn't even check to make sure all the kids on the ride were buckled up. The second time he accused my friend and our kids of not giving him the correct amount of tickets. We asked him to count the tickets then and he said he didn't have time for that started arguing with us in front of other customers who were actually having their party there. My friend looked like she was about to cry because she was basically getting accused of stealing after she JUST bought 2 additional tickets to go back on the ride with the kids. Eventually after making a scene he said we could all go on the ride and not to worry about it but it was too late to fix anything at that point because it was awkward. Read moreThe Holyoke Merry Go Round is part of the Holyoke Heritage Park that also includes the Children's Museum, Volleyball Hall of fame, and Splash Park (2019).
The rides are $2 for one, or $10 for six. Check their Facebook page for free events. The rides themselves last ~4 minutes, and it goes fast, so the kids are going to like it, and you'll feel like you got your money's worth. You can also book a birthday party for $14 per child with unlimited rides for 90 minutes.
The Merry-Go-Round itself is historic, it's the last out of 90 built by the manufacturer that is still in operation. The horses are wooden and the two inner rows move up and down. An organ plays the familiar sounds during your ride.
At the ticket counter you can also get juices, snacks, t-shirts, and other items. There is a drink vending machine with sodas for $1. The employees and volunteers are all very nice and friendly. They go out of their way to interact with you and your children and make sure you're all having a fun time. There's a reason this staple of Holyoke is rated so highly, it's a great way to spend time with...
Read moreToday was the first time we visited the merry-go-round in Holyoke. That man is downright vile. He yelled at a two and three-year-old and was nothing but rude. We were contemplating scheduling a private party there but will NEVER go in there as long as he...
