So I'm in my 5th year of continuous membership at this gym, and I can say that it has taken a nose dive in the past 2 years. The women's locker room has been smelling of sewage for about a month. Stalls are generally riddled with tissue and trash (due mostly to low class members, but also, poor maintenance on behalf of the gym). Showeres are never cleaned or sanitized. Clumps of hair remain on the floor indefinitely all throughout the place. What was once an amazing spinning room with 24 hour access using a virtual screen, is now dedicated to personal training only. Seriously? The superb spinning bikes are now crammed one against one another along the periphery of the wooden floored studio (wow, that was smart!). I can't imagine taking a spinning class under such conditions, nevermind preserving the studio floor. They may as well sell them. The studio, where I was able to practice my floor fitness routine at any hour, has been locked due to poor member use, bringing in gym weights and not picking equipment after a workout. It is currently unlocked while they come up with a new locking system. Their aim is for it to be used for classes only. Their solution is to lock the room and punish rule-abiding members, rather than patrolling the room and dealing with violators. What few bikes are available in the gym area, are in poor condition and getting worse. Now to the wet area... In the years I've been coming, only 10% of the people accessing the sauna and steam room actually remove their shoes. So, if your looking for a place to pick up bacteria, this is where you want to hang out. Once again, rules pertaining to removal of shoes and restrictions of weights in this area, are not enforced. As for the spa: this was, once upon a time, a wonderful place to give your body an amazing rub down. The jets were the best I'd ever encountered at a public facility. Sadly, last spring, a homeless phycho decided to wash his clothes in the spa and also the pool. He became belligerent when confronted by a well-intentioned patron, who asked him to stop. He responded by threwing her belongings into the pool while cussing her out. The incident required police intervention, but the damagewasdone. The outcome to this ridiculous event was that the spa quit working. A sock was removed from the suction line, but another blockage must still remain, since it has never again functioned properly. Months went by before it was functioning at all, and never as before. It is broken more often than not. The pool deck reaks of mildew before any "deep cleaning" is performed. Thrice I have notified the staff that the pool noodles are decayed from age and chlorine, and nothing has been done. I'm sure that once discarded, they will not be replaced. Recently, the temperature gauge was vadilized and shattered to pieces. In summary, if you're looking for a gym that is poorly kept, full of trash, and smells of sewage, then this is the place for you. As for me, I'm waiting for the next gym to open nearby so I can bag this place. Don't you just love Homestead's...
Read moreThis review is for the gym gremlins who are vibe wreckers of this gym.
I’ve been a member of this gym for a while, and while it has great potential, there’s a major issue with cleanliness and gym etiquette. Unfortunately, it seems like some members don’t care about keeping the gym clean or respecting the space for others. This affects the overall experience and makes it less enjoyable. It is the admin responsibility also not only enforce rules, but also keep up for the rest of good apples to be happy or they will leave the gym due to these business blockers.
I’d like to offer some constructive feedback based on "the Broken Windows Theory". Let me explain. This theory suggests that visible signs of disorder, like cluttered weights or unclean equipment, can encourage further neglect and bad behavior. If the gym consistently enforces cleanliness and order—through staff intervention, member accountability, and incentives for good habits—it can create a positive cycle where members are more likely to respect the space and each other. Addressing small issues quickly can prevent larger problems from developing and improve the overall gym culture.
Enhanced Points System: The current system rewards members based on how often they check in, which is great, but perhaps it could be expanded to promote good behavior. Members could earn additional points for actions like returning weights to the rack, or wiping down the equipment, and also why not cleaning other ppl's mess, and maybe leaving evidence of this through pics, video and post it, email anywhere. Regards hogging machines and weights ppl should also have a reward for reporting not occupying machines, and /or denouncing other ones who does it discretely.
Accountability Through Cameras: Since there are cameras, the gym could enforce rules by monitoring consistent bad behavior, such as leaving equipment out, not cleaning up AND hogging machines and weights. Egotistical and inconsiderate ppl shouid leave this gym because they are business killers. Canceling memberships for repeat offenders might seem strict, but it could encourage accountability.
Rewards for Good Practices: Offer small incentives, such as free guest passes, discounts on memberships, or gym-branded merchandise, for members who consistently demonstrate good etiquette.
Education and Communication: Place signs or reminders throughout the gym that emphasize the importance of cleanliness and respect. Sometimes people need a simple nudge to change their behavior. Also, stop ppl in front of the gym and just bring a poster with the rules for God's sake. Ppl don't read signs, they are too self absorbed especially ppl in miami. In the same way, some member staff should leave this place because they think they are paid to chat.
I really believe the gym could elevate the experience for everyone with a system that encourages accountability and rewards positive habits. Thank you for considering...
Read moreUpdate 12/29/21 Wasn't going to make another post but dang twice in the same week not opening up at 5am!! So on 12/27/21 gym didn't open until 5:10 so not really a big deal, but again today (12/29/21) they opened up at 5:45am and it would have opened up later than that if I didn't call a friend that works here, they came and opened up the gym... UPDATE, 9/15/21 yes thats right the gym isn't open again. the gym is suppose to open at 5am and its 5:13am and not open.... But the reason this time is they changed the code on lock box and didn't tell the the employee the new code. So now we have to wait or just go home!!!! Dang as customers we really pay for their mistakes and miscommunications. the gym manager and owner of the gym really doesn't care about their customers not sure why. We give them money every month and in exchange they provide us with this service. So if we get no service, we end up leaving so the gym makes no money, gym closes, then the people that work at that gym lose there job. am I missing something? ......On to my older post.... Yet again today on 7/8/21 the gym didn't open at 5am, but this time l stayed to see how long I would need to wait. I was outside the gym with around 20-30 other gym members into 6:25am, so almost 1 hour & half. On to my old review posted about a week ago.... Have been going to this gym since it opened in the last 2 years they have been struggling to open up on time. Me and other gym members typically 1-2times a month we would have to wait outside for the gym to open at least 15-30 minutes +, and eventually have to leave. If you're looking for a gym to get a consistent workout and try to follow a schedule I wouldn't recommend this gym. Especially if you're gonna go when they open in the morning. Don't do...
