Brazilian Wax Spa by Marci Hoover — Attraction in Hoover

This review is long overdue and the unfairness that this business has provided to me is something that I cannot accept. I’ve been a loyal customer for 10 years.

The past 3 visits, my appointments ran 30 mins late and the 1 time I’ve ever been late they told me that it would be impossible to accommodate me. My appointment was at 12:20, I walked in the door at 12:27, I even gave a call for convenience. I do not recommend the business anymore. The grace is only extended on my end when I was the one being inconvenienced. They have even took a client before me at my designated appointment time and the only thing Marci offered was an apology. I asked for a refund in which will take 3-5 business days.

I’ll add that the receptionist(Caucasian Lady) is very condescending and not pleasant to work with. She never acknowledged anything I stated and failed to be reasonable. She is the main reason why I won’t give this place my business or money anymore.

I highly recommend European Wax Center, they welcomed me with grace. They also have a 15 minute grace period verses the ridiculous 5 minute one sided period that Marci offers.

I've been a long time customer of this place. Since the pandemic, things have changed on appts and costs. Starting last year, the owner started a new policy requesting clients to pay a deposit for their appt. If you are 10mins or more late, you forfeit your deposit and slot time. The costs have went up for services pending on which one you get. An employee was stating they don't get paid by hourly wages but from clients. I'm not sure how accurate that is though. I went recently and had to wait an additional almost 30 mins due to the prior client not communicating what all services she got. My observation was she was intentionally causing confusion so she didn't have to pay for add'l services. Yikes! Anyway, I was late to my next appt because of that customer. I've been here and the other location multiple times but my last two recent times the wax has left my skin irritated, bumpy, and itchy. I've also have more ingrown hairs than ever. I never had those problems in the past with them so I'm not sure what changed. I did however switch to European Wax Center because their wax it hurts way less and left my skin smoother. I would recommend sticking to one wax place that works for you because other places may have different ingredients and what used to work for me at Marci's simply doesn't anymore.
