Time Capsule — Attraction in Hopewell

I shop here at least once a week. For people into CCG, comic books, and funko pops in the Hopewell - Prince George area this is the place to go. Inside the same shop is the Silver Unicorn. They can help you with CCG, board games, and table top gaming. Both Rick (time capsule) and Bill (silver unicorn) are helpful and knowledgeable in their fields.

I don't recall when I gave my first review of Time Capsule/Silver Unicorn. I would like to update the review to the current time frame (being May of 2022). These stores are like fine wine, they only get better with age. As the years go by both Rick and Bill, Time Capsule and Silver Unicorn respectively are as helpful and full of knowledge as ever. They have made improvements to the store with changes to the layout and items offered. Rick has an impressive collection of comics for sale that any true collector can appreciate. Rick also has the largest selection of Funko Pops in the tri cities and greater Richmond area that I have seen. Bill has a massive collection of vintage and modern Magic the Gathering cards and D&D figures. These guys collectively have a huge knowledge base for rules of Magic the Gathering and D&D and hold regular tournaments on the weekends for MtG. This shop is a hidden gem for trading card game lovers. They had a really impressive selection of vintage Magic: The Gathering packs for sale—definitely a treat for collectors or anyone feeling nostalgic. They also carried Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece, Dungeons & Dragons, and comics, so there’s something here for everyone.

The space was clean and inviting, with plenty of tables available and a strong commander scene if you’re into Magic. One of my favorite parts? There was an adorable dog peacefully sleeping in the window—it gave the whole store such a cozy, welcoming vibe.

And maybe the biggest surprise: it didn’t have that usual game store smell. It actually smelled great, which made browsing and hanging out even more enjoyable.

Time Capsule has been serving Hopewell's comic and card game community for many years. The owner, Rick, is friendly and knowledgeable. He can usually order you the book you're after if they don't have an issue on the shelves. The store is stocked with accessories for games. They sell singles for Magic the Gathering.

Time Capsule hosts events for different games throughout the week. They have regular strong attendance for Magic's multiple formats (and they are nice and will welcome you in to play with them!). The store also does Pokemon League, Yu-gi-oh, and Grand Archive.

Plus there's a sweet shop dog, Link! I buy all my comics from Rick and go to this shop to play games at least once a week. Go...
