Sunday, 2/19/23 Today we swung by with my nieces to enjoy the park and library, except the entire building was abruptly closed with no signs or information indicating reason(s) for closure. When we asked the security guard, guarding the front entrance, he rudely replied with, āI donāt know.ā He was completely unprofessional and unhelpful. The staffing needs to do a better job communicating amongst themselves and communicating with the public of whatās going on. This place is great and has sooo much potential but itās going to be run to the ground if they donāt staff correctly.

I finally got to see and tour the space. Beautiful facility for all ages, from children to seniors. I dropped by Friday, around 4 pm to check out park and walk my dog. It was busy with many patrons, mostly teenagers and seniors occupying a few tennis courts. It was great.
The next morning, I stopped by around 10am to shoot some outdoors hoop and then check out their indoor space.
Pros: love to see the community make use of the space, many patrons walking, exercising and playing sports. Their indoor space is very impressive, offering all sorts of services. Classes for seniors, WIC Services, gym, indoor basketball court, the Tech Center, Library and even passport services!
While walking dog, I did not see much dog poop on grass which meant, owners were picking up after their dogs. This is fantastic.
Cons: overnight, the park is very dirty with trash and water bottles everywhere. I am ashamed of how unmindful and uncaring neighborhood goers treat their community. Trash bins are ample, it takes 10 steps to clean up after yourself.
I didnāt see parks & Recs personal make rounds to clean up, up until 10:30-11am or so. Even so, only one female. There should be a crew of people upkeeping the park and well before 11 am.
I afraid that within due time, this space will be run down of litter, trash due to immense carelessness.
I highly suggest they bring more security/police to patrol. This might curb any misuse and misconduct & start citing for loitering & such.
I did see 3 police vehicle parked in lot, but not sure if they were patrolling. I donāt mind the early 8pm closure. This may keep crime and misconduct at bay.
I really wished they incorporated a dog park with all of the green space they have. Several soccer fields and even the baseball field, could be turned into a dog park. Also, there is No water drink stations for pets. This would be nice to replenish our fur babies, not a big deal but would be nice.
Otherwise wonderful experience and plan to be a regular visitor and make use of all their service. Great job, City of Houston! Highly recommend the community to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Alief Neighborhood Center, or as I like to call it, the Alief Neighborhood Empowerment Center, is absolutely revolutionary. As a free community resource, it deserves immense gratitude to the mayors, governors, and architects who made this possible. This place is truly outstanding.
Upon walking in, you're immediately impressed by the array of resources available, from WIC services to immigration and passport assistance. The center boasts a library, swimming pool, basketball court, and gymāit's a comprehensive hub for community services.
What truly sets this empowerment center apart is the TechLink Center. This free resource, accessible with a library card (which is free), offers opportunities to learn about various technologies, from camera work to music engineering to laser cutting. These resources are invaluable for those looking to start a business or simply expand their knowledge, providing job skills and moreāall at no cost to the community.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team and the community for making these opportunities available to us. The center also offers free online workshops, conference rooms for meetings or private Zoom calls, and computer lessons. It's clear that this center is dedicated to ensuring that citizens have access to educational and professional development resources that would typically cost thousands of dollars.
I give a 10 out of 10 to everyone involved in providing these classes and resources. This center is not only empowering our community but also paving the way for broader impact. Thank you for your commitment to our growth...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlief Neighborhood Community Center is Wow, just wow! I was truly amazed by the Alief Neighborhood Community Center. This was my first time visiting, joining a friend for a game of pickleball, and I have to say, I was blown away by how beautiful and welcoming this facility is. Everything here looks brand new, and itās clear that they do an excellent job of managing and maintaining the space.
The staff stood out as incredibly friendly and helpful. They assisted me with registration right at the court, making the whole process easy. The center is well-equipped, with dedicated lockers for players, making it ideal for various sports like basketball, pickleball, and other games. The cleanliness of the facility is remarkableāeverything is well-aligned, neat, and tidy.
The outdoor amenities are equally impressive. There are about eight well-maintained tennis courts, a fantastic playground for kids, and a skateboard area where children can play and make new friends. The center also has swings, slides, and plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the surroundings. They even have outdoor ping-pong tables and a designated outdoor eating area to enjoy the weather.
Parking is abundant, with both a parking garage and a free parking lot, so finding a spot is never an issue. Although I havenāt fully explored the community center, what Iāve seen so far is amazingāthe huge swimming pool, the attention to detail from the staff, and the convenient location close to my home. This is definitely going to be my go-to spot for fun, relaxation, and recreation. Highly...
