I've been going to Bendwood Park since I was 5 (22 years ago). So I think I have a unique and insightful view of the place. Therefore I will give is a unique review.
B- B stands for Basketball. The park has 2 half-courts where you can play. Normally there's a good group of people there so you can join in on pick up games as well.
E- E stands for Expansive. The park, while not as large as Memorial or Hermann is a pretty large area of land for this area of the city.
N- N stands for No Bathroom. If you've gotta go, tough luck! This might be the one negative of this great place.
D- D is for Dog Walking. The park has a ton of grass and a large walking path that makes it a great location to walk your pooch!
W- W is for Why Stay Inside? Why stay inside and waste your day away when you have a great park close by!?
O- O is for Outdoor Activities. Other than basketball, the park also has two tennis courts (with a wall if you want to practice), a baseball backstop and tons of space for football/kickball/soccer etc.
O- O is also for Often Packed. When the weather is nice this place gets super busy. If you're planning a party or picnic you might want to get there early.
D- D is for a Day to Remember (ok that might be cheating but bear with me). I have a ton of great memories about this place and it hasn't changed much since I was a kid. Sure the playground equipment might be a little different but it still offers a ton of fun for the whole family.
Definitely take time to visit the park (and don't forget to use the restroom...
Read moreI visited a couple of weeks ago. I was tired. The highway was jammed, it was the closest park to my location. I went there, enjoyed a tennis game by wonderful college students. Then I watched a mom laughing while her kids made a miss in the fountains located in the moddle of their play ground. An old man walking two dogs, or the dogs walking him! I wasn't sure, but the group looked amazing!
20 feet to my left, a group of 6 people, young men and women, students were on a picnic table, prebaring for something that seemed epic, and epic it was, they were practicing a run for simething. I enjoyed their energy, their challange of life matter of factly. While leaving, a man was entering the park with two kids. He looked tired, but in the same time, so happy with his oppressors! They were everywhere and nowhere, if you got my point?
I remembered my own twin kids, Oh how much I miss them, and my wife, my boss, my queen and my everything. I love u guys. I love you Houston.

Read moreI've been coming here for at least 10 years. It does have courts (2 tennis) which has shade until 8ish if you're using the wall and basketball (2), a baseball field, a playscape for older kids and a playscape for toddlers. Access to the Bendwood school playscapes that ARE shades. Parking is on the street or @ the Bendwood school. But the people... that's the main reason why I go there. Very diverse ethnically. It's a great opportunity to meet people that might speak your same second language. Plus, lots of young couples with kids, if you're trying to socialize your kids. Lastly, I recommend it if you're visiting Houston and had just gone to city Centre or Memorial City mall and want your toddler to get tired for an...
