ETT Excellent Trade Training of HVAC — Attraction in Houston

The instructor at this school name, Omar, sells the school's Freon on Craigslist. I don't know if this is standard practice but I came across his ad on Craigslist when I was looking to get some Freon for my AC unit. He told me the school he works for gets it for free so that's why he is able to sell it for a lower price than other sellers. I said ok and he came over to inspect my AC and told me how much Freon I would need. He also checked the unit in my attic and told me I may not have a Freon leak (which I suspected it did) and that I may just need a Sealant for the unit in the attic. He told me the cost and I said ok.

For the amount I didn't have that cash up front so I was going to pay with my card or check. He asked if I could pay with cash because he will be able to get more of a commission for his work versus me paying directly to the school with a card or check payment. I told him I didn't have that cash on hand and he asked if I didn't mind going to get the cash. I said No. You think I'm going to leave my house unattended with a stranger I just met and his “girlfriend” outside sitting in the car? Then I told him I will just get back with him later and he then said ok I can pay with check because he saw that I was uncomfortable about it all.

I paid him and he added the Freon and he said he will come back tomorrow to see how much is present and if I have a leak or just need the Sealant material. He came back the next day and said most of the Freon was still there so he suggested the Sealant would work well and I should be fine after that. He went up into the attic to add the Sealant (which I paid for) then proceeded to leave saying all these “nice things” about me on the way out which I know now was all an act. When I went back to close everything up I noticed that part of the door to my attic was broken. He broke my attic door and didn't tell me anything. So I contacted him and asked him why would he break part of my attic door and leave without telling me. He pretended that he didn't know what I was talking about so I sent him the pictures. He apologized and said he will come back tomorrow with a friend who does handy work to fix the door.

The next day he came back with no friend. He wanted to look at the door but didn't fix anything because he didn't have any materials on him. He said he will bring stuff to fix it next time and he left and never came back. I contacted him about him coming back and fixing the door and he said he was out of town and that he will come by when he got back. I never heard from him or ever saw him again. On top of that the Sealant material did not work! So not only did I waste my money on the Freon and the Sealant but now I have to pay for a broken attic door!

Best HVAC Training experience, very knowledgeable instructor definitely very pleased to have taken the step to take the class and I recommend it to anyone.
