In response to global energy-saving and emission-reduction strategies, Hermann Park's 70-year-old train has undergone electrification, introducing two brand new electric trains—the ExxonMobil Express and the Dr. Jack Express. To celebrate this eco-friendly upgrade, Hermann Park is offering free rides from August 31 to September 6.
Our family decided to join in on the fun today, and it turned out to be quite a hot experience! With it being Labor Day weekend, the park was packed. In 30-degree heat, we waited in line for half an hour before finally boarding the train. To cool down, we ended up buying several cold drinks, so while we saved on train tickets, we certainly didn’t save on refreshments.
Despite the heat, the park's scenery is as beautiful as ever, and the newly built playground and water park are definitely worth exploring with the kids. I highly recommend taking advantage of the free ride event before it ends, but be sure to check the weather, choose a cooler time of day, and try to avoid the holiday crowds.

Read moreNice ride. I recommend that you do not sit directly behind the engine. The smells of the exhaust from the engine was bad. Other than that, the view was good and the peoples were friendly with their waves of salutations. Oh, another thing was the squeaky of the wheels when it turns is kinda annoying too. I wished that they tuned up the engine, it will clear up some of that smog , grease the wheels and if possible, add a straight track so they can go full speed. They have alot of room for improvements. The gift shop was suffocating. The smell of plastic hit me and my baby hard. I had to get out of there asap! Tickets were okay 3.75 per person and babies under 1 is free. You can wait by the other train stop to get in free but that's only if they have...
Read moreI had the worst experience here today. Apparently it was the first day the train was going through a new area, which was problem number 1 they did not let people beforehand how much longer the wait would be. Problem 2 they do not account for children which sensory issues which is really poor on their part. Then when they decided to cancel the train due to the other train no longer working, it was very unapologetic. I get there is only so much you can do but annoucing it closed and then running off bc you knew people were upset just added to a horrible situation. Then on top of that if you wanted a refund you also had to wait back in line again after an hour of already waiting...
