I visited Saturday for ballet under the stars with son 8, daughter 4 and my one year old. I came because my daughter is in ballet and loves it. The show was alright. It was young men without there shirts and they looked nude with there tight yoga pants that matched their skin tone. I imaged women in leotards and tutus. I feel that it definitely should have been stated to avoid confusion. When I was going in I was walking alittle slow and the staff rushed me very loudly to keep going. I had to find my seats. Staff just asked if I need help and then when I said yes they said probably somewhere over there with no direction. They didn’t walk me or point. The seats are really close together. Children might not get to see the act. Adults blocked my 4 year old from seeing which I came for her to see. I had to get up second act because as one year olds are after sitting there for around two hours she was getting fussy. I was completely to the side blocking no one’s way rocking my baby in her stroller when I was told, not asked very rudely I need to leave or sit back down. I was kinda sad and shocked I thought I was doing right by everyone and my baby by moving. I was in no one’s way in any shape or form. no where did it state I couldn’t have my stroller there. The aisle was wide wide enough for people to pass it doesn’t make sense. Two people were recording and the lady rudely touched there phones and told them to stop which I understood because it did say that online but I don’t understand the stroller so we sadly ended up leaving. so if you have a small baby just realize you might have to leave unexpectedly so not very family friendly for little ones which really sucks. Like families need anymore of those places. So overall with the staff being rude and asked to leave 3 stars. Only good I came on a cool day so it was nice atmosphere about 7 minute walk for parking (it was packed)...
Read moreMiller outdoor theater puts on a variety of shows, concerts, movies, plays, symphonies, ballet/dance performances, & other misc events at the outdoor theater. They offer a wide range of events, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
They’re active on updating their schedule now, so you can always check online what’s plays/events/etc are currently being featured during any given week or month.
There is plenty of seating too, and it’s all free. It’s two different types of seating offered though, hillside and covered. Hillside seating is free + no ticket required. If you want to sit in the covered section, it’s free as well but pre-reserved ticket is required, which can be reserved on their site.
You have to be in your seat at least 10 min before the show starts, since any unclaimed seats are released to the public sitting at hillside. To pick up tickets, you need to go to the box office, and the box office opens one hour before each show. Btw you cannot call in advance to reserve tickets via phone, unless you require handicap accessible seating.
Nice big open outdoor theatre located at Herman Park. Kid friendly and accessible.
*The park is pet friendly, but for the theater events/performances, they ask people to not bring pets, even for the hillside area.
Overall, entertaining and family friendly place to visit. Definitely recommend! Check their site for...
Read more💔 Miller Theatre management team, especially the horrendous GM Shawn Hauptmann really left an ugly impression and experience with me. After all the good times there, they acted really arbitrary, subjective and couldn't even follow their own custom rules regarding seating. When it was reported to the general manager, Shawn Hauptmann, he was rude, disrespectful, uncaring about customer experiences, infallibly interrupts people while they are talking, and even hangs up on people when customers/guests are trying to resolve Houston guests issues. It was also previously reported to assistant general manager Nicole Young and although she was nice and respectful, she ultimately did not result in resolving the issue or returning communications They let bad experiences fester and ignored people's concerns and complaints. That's a top down management issue all the way down to the despicable general manager Shawn. It's very interesting that vibe was also given many years ago repeatedly before they were even met regarding how certain community events were visibly managed compared to others.
They seem to operate on a negative and inefficient bias that wastes time, resources, civility, respect, and positive experiences on...
