So picturesque and serene.

I saw the beautiful scenery of the garden. I thought of my time in Seattle and Olympia, Washington. I saw a goldfish as big as your head as I was crossing wooden bridge over a canal. I saw a couple of fish then I started checking out some of the other speckled varieties that came on the scene. Then I saw some ducks that tried to play so cool like they were some driftwood floating ever so smoothly along the water but I could see the legs paddling so furiously underneath the water. I immediately thought, order in chaos... Then I looked back at the patterns of increasing fish circling were making and got the notion that they were checking me out. I stepped over to the other side of the bridge and found that they were making their way over to the other side, ducks, fish and all.

I left that scene and went around, about 20 yards, near the far side of the canal just as there was one duck leading another one and more following up the canal. When I saw the leading duck stop as if to take notice of me and others joining, some almost falling all over one another as they were coming into almost military formation and all lining up, I could no longer handle all of that attention, and I followed another path somewhere else. I tried to find where the water flowed from.

When I came to the southwest end of the garden there rose a hill lined with trees and landscaping hiding a gentle waterfall that gave water to the flow of the waterway that perambulated the garden. I encountered my first people on the south end as I was beginning to leave. I thought about Lichterman Park in Memphis and places in Japan that I must visit. There was construction on the reflecting pool just outside the garden.

I walked toward the zoo crossing mini train tracks. As I approached the lake I could see the zoo across the lake and the tops of hospitals above the trees. I perambulated around the winding channel and saw a very distinguished looking variety of ducks when I came across the edge of the water for a closer look. Not only did I not command their attention like the ducks in the garden, but those seemed to be the most arrogant group of ducks that I had ever encountered.

I left and crossed over to Rice University, and again somehow the architecture reminded me of my time at UDub. The sun was setting and the front quarter of the rabbit could be seen on the moon which was still high in the sky. There were streams of clouds whose coverage could not compete against the day’s magnificent blue sky. I was on the square walking toward a beam of sunlight careful not to look directly into the middle of the light, not for any fear of impending death associated with seeing light in similar fashion, but for to protect my eyes from the brightness.

It was a very nice walk for the day and as I placed a letter destined for Florida into a US Mail receptacle, I came down the beginning of Sunset Avenue and came back home. So I looked up when I got home and by then, the sun went down, and I could look in the sky and see where the stars used to be and wonder if millions of years from now, people would notice where I have been like the first set of ducks I encountered or pay the significance of where I have been no...

Wow omg I have no words this Japanese Garden is huge and everything is connected they have a train🚂🚃 ride where it takes you through a whole tour and it has stops if you wanna get off some where else. Boats🚤🛶⛵ rides the are so nice and fun only 4 person per boat the tickets for the both rides are separate but is not to expensive. We bought the the boats and train tickets all together because the line gets pack.. No pets in the boats at all. Only service animals in the train. Your pets can walk as long as they're in the leash and there's different parks for kids to play it gets super hot I recommend dressing up casual or sporty and you can grill and have picnics and there's even a cool rose pyramid where you can walk but we didn't got the chance to do that yet. We will definitely be coming back to explore more because there's just so much to do. One thing I do recommend bring your own cooler with drinks and snacks for your family and your pets. All the food and drinks are just to expensive to buy in side the park. 8 dollars for two cans of sodas.😱😅 I you don't mind spending more money be my guess. Lol 😃 One tip go in the morning because you will definitely take an hour to find parking spot ones the time hits 11 a.m. ⚠️( Advice for everyone.... Don't be an @sshole if someone is waiting for a parking spot and you just cut in and take it away. Be more considerate because remember those are families with children the been waiting for a spot put the right example to your children so they learn the right way. )⚠️ I recommend this awesome and beautiful place...

The Japanese Garden in Hermann Park is definitely one of the most underrated piece of oasis in Houston. This 5 acres park inside a park is a place for you to just take a stroll whether to clear your head or just enjoy the beauty of the various flowers and trees that's native to Asia but also suitable to Houston's climate. The garden is has a main circle route but with many paths to take that will take you various different scenery of the garden.

Some of my favorite points in the garden includes the area near the tea room where you can oversee the beautiful waterfall over the big pond. Another place I really enjoy is the rock mountain with various white stones on the bottom and a paved rock path for you to take. It's really peaceful just walking in that garden and seeing others doing the same whether just enjoying the good weather we get here sometimes in Houston or a family outing for the kids to have fun and get a taste of the nature in the city.

Parking is pretty much park at any of the Hermann Park's free parking lot and it's a walking distance as the entrance is near the obelisk. I used to take this Japanese Garden for granted thinking it's boring and there's nothing to see but now as an adult, I understand the beauty of this place and I will appreciate it every now and then when I'm in...
