It would have been a 5 star if I had not had the experience I just had today. I've only known about this place for about 3 months, and I've actually made Some pretty intense efforts to come eat here. Parking at hermann park is already a nightmare, but the vegan taro Chia pudding that they make is a 100% worth it. Today I came here and I guess they're filming a commercial here. The people that are in charge of the filming are pretty rude, the park is full and there's a lot of kids that they're telling to be quiet so they can shoot. The only thing I really have to say is I came outside to take a phone call so I wasn't being obnoxious inside and I got shushed outside. I should be able to walk outside at a park and walk away from the inside dining area to take a phone call without being cut off by people doing whatever they're doing At the restaurant. Watching the film people here tell the 15 kids that we're trying to eat to be quiet just was a really uncomfortable and disturbing experience to witness. These Mom's were just trying to get their kids outside and now they had to move to a completely different area with their food to be quiet for a commercial that they're filming. Maybe get better Mics so that the background noise doesn't cut into whatever you're doing and your customers can have a...

Ginger Kale replaced the Pinewood cafe last year. We always enjoyed the sandwiches at pinewood cafe, and found the prices to be reasonable especially considering the area. Ginger kale appears to have kept most of the equipment and some of the menu while refurbishing the entire interior sitting area. The decor is far superior to what the pinewood Cafe offered, but unfortunately that's where the improvements end. The Ginger Cafe offers a more diverse menu of "healthy" options (as the name would imply) and prices seem relatively unchanged, however the sandwiches are not up to the standards that the pinewood Cafe set. The descriptions are lacking any detail, and the club sandwich (which is presented as one of the main features) was dry and had a spicy mayo that would not be expected based on the description. when I notified them that we didn't want a spicy sandwich because my daughter wouldn't like it, they offered several other options all of which I had to pay for. We went the safe route with chicken tenders which were again not up to the standards of the...

The coffee here is okay, it’s nice to be able to stop by after walking around Hermann Park (which is what we did). There is a lot of options on the menu, but everything is expensive for the poor quality you receive (not saying it’s HORRIBLE quality, just that you can get much better for the same price all over town). It was 1pm when we came, so 4 hours of them being open, and they were out of pretty much all of their baked goods and refrigerated food.

I took off a star for atmosphere because there were a lot of loud kids running around and refusing to sit still (like there’s a park outside, just go there ??). I understand it’s next to the zoo, just wish there was an option nearby with less kids everywhere, or some way for this business to keep the kids distracted. Definitely felt like walking into a daycare, I can’t imagine the kind of headaches the workers get. Otherwise, it’s a cutely...

This is not a reasonably priced establishment. A sandwich at the quality I could make at home and a juice should not be $22. For the taste, amount, and quality I would say maybe $11-15 at most. Additionally, whoever makes the juices with pineapple as an ingredient needs to understand that the core is extremely bitter and should not be used. I tried drinking my $11 juice (trying to be healthy) and only got half way before I just couldn't stand any more and threw it out. The staff were nice/perfectly equal to any other regular sandwich shop. Personally I do not believe this business should have been chosen for this location because at the price point it doesn't adequately serve the needs of the average Houstonian customer.

This seems to be the only place to eat in Herrman Park right outside the Houston Zoo, and it leaves a lot to be desired. I came in about 40 minutes before closing and it wasn't busy at all. The sandwiches and pastries looked good but I chose the chicken quesadilla. Worst quesadilla I have ever had, a 4 year old could make a better one. Very dry, and barely any cheese inside, just horrible! I was starving after walking, and afraid to order anything else. I went to sit down and every single table in the place was dirty! Mind you it's very small, and there were 5 workers behind the counter looking very bored...wipe down some tables maybe. One star, for the LEMONADE. This place needs to do better for a tourist area.
