I had a wedding here December of 2023. First of all, the lack of communication (like inability to get an email response at all) was very stressful. I was unable to shoot my bridal portraits before my wedding because they would not respond to mine or my coordinator’s email in time. Second. The day of my rehearsal. Anyone was able to walk through, as if my rehearsal was open to the public. Not a problem to us, it was understandable and didn’t bother us one bit as we were just happy to be getting married. BUT the day of my actual wedding. I walk up in a wedding dress attempting to hide from my groom who is on the property, and we aren’t allowed to even walk into the public part of the park because another rehearsal was going on. WHERE was the security detail for my rehearsal? Also WEDDING trumps rehearsal. One man told one of my bridesmaids that he would “escort her off the property” for trying to have a conversation with him about where to hide me until ceremony. Our set up time was double booked with their rehearsal. And the woman who double booked us was fired. Yet, they remained unaccommodating. There was no where to keep our stuff while our ceremony was happening because rental of the outside space is not the same as renting the “inside space” even though they don’t “book more than one event a day” (clearly not true). I was told when I booked that the inside private room was available to us and often used for bride’s getting ready and first looks. Yet we were told we weren’t allowed to be in there. The staff also wouldn’t let ANYONE in the vendor parking lot until RIGHT before my wedding, again, because there was a “REHEARSAL” happening. The rehearsal was not using the parking lot. There was no one (I repeat, no one, in the parking lot). I was privy to the difficulty of working with them before my wedding day, but was appalled the day of my wedding. Do NOT have...

The gardens are always so well kept — the flowers, greenery, and walking paths are spotless and full of color. Every time I go, I notice something new blooming or a different part of the park that catches my eye.
The main hill with the spiral walkway is one of my favorite parts — it’s such a relaxing walk up, and once you reach the top, the view of the gardens and downtown Houston is amazing. It’s the perfect spot for photos, quiet reflection, or just to sit and enjoy nature.
The whole park feels calm, safe, and family-friendly. There are areas where you can sit and enjoy a picnic, and it’s a great spot for couples, kids, or even just solo walks to clear your mind. I also love how connected it is to Hermann Park — you can easily spend a few hours exploring both.
It’s one of those places that reminds you to slow down and appreciate simple beauty. Every visit leaves me feeling refreshed and happy. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful escape or a scenic place to take pictures and...
Read moreIf you like gardens, walking trails, and climbing a mountain 'pike's peak style' via an easy walking path to a panoramic high-point houston overlook, this is your place! I first noticed this on the way from the typical museum free parking lot (on way to Zoo). You pretty much have to go through or next to it on the way to the Natural Science Museum. Big, beautiful elaborate fountains and pools with lounge chairs to sit in alongside, artificial turf grass area for kids, seasonal massive public gardens with all the veggies you can imagine, incredible gardening for a horticulturalist or even botanist, and a massively impressive trail that encircles a tall grass covered mound with a very impressive waterfall coming down it, just to hit the main keywords. There is an activity center where they have classes too, with signs at each entrance that inform you of the latest events (see pics). I always make a concerted effort to come through here to see what new things are in the garden, to get a great view of the city,...
