Friendship Pavilion — Attraction in Houston

Me, my wife and a couple of friends came here on a Sunday to hangout and take pictures. My wife and her female friend were wearing hanfu which are traditional Chinese clothes. However, our day was ruined by a couple of park employees who said we were not allowed to take pictures there because they were in "costumes" unless we had a professional photo shoot permit, even though we were taking pictures with phones and not trying to be in anyone's way. After a bit of back and forth, they told us we have a couple of minutes to take pictures then we must leave even though we planned to hang out in the pavilion for a while. "Friendship"...

I was amazed to discover the Friendship Pavilion at McGovern Centennial Gardens. Initially, I thought it was part of the Japanese Garden, but it’s located in the southeast corner of the park along the Tudor Family Pine Hill Walk. This beautiful pavilion was a gift to Houston city from its sister city, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1976, and was relocated to its current position in 2014.
