Update 08/12/24Total failure. Let's start with the parking lot. The attendant was too busy on her phone to verbally communicate with me to say back up and get a ticket. I got waved at what I would say is angrily and wasting this young lady's time. Next Walking In to concessions, the young girl behind the counter made me feel like I was wasting her time as well. I asked her if the lemonade was good she said she liked it, and I asked her if I could have a sample, and then she rolled her eyes at me in protest and got me a sample. We ordered a large popcorn and two beverages for 31 plus dollars. Which is about $30 profit for you. My time with you on Monday afternoon matinee the August 12th 3:40 showing of Deadpool and Wolverine. I passed by five employees , and none of them engaged me. Including the woman who scanned my QR code. We went to see Deadpool and Wolverine in Theater 12, which was the 4d theater. I have never been to this, nor will I ever go back. There is no forewarning how violent this movie theater is with its violently moving chairs. Let's start with that. If you're over 170 lb, you will not fit they are extremely uncomfortable(super stiff and narrow. I'm sure Spirit Airlines would approve. I was not aware of the violence I was about to experience from this supposed 4D theater. Buyer beware it is violent and brutal and can hurt you. It is not calibrated properly, in my opinion. It was like riding a violent roller coaster for 2 hours+. It ruined the experience of the movie. I was with my son, and he said he would never do this again as I will not as well. For two tickets that cost a total of $55 for a Monday, the matinee seems a little extreme. The other wonderful thing is that when we walked into the movie theater, the temperature was probably 80° with 80% humidity. Unbearable! The only time you got relief was when water was being spit in your mouth, and the fans came on from the 4D. And to end on this, when you went to go get out of the garage on a Monday afternoon matinee, it took almost 10 minutes because the parking garage has gone to some stupid non helpful automated system. Congratulations, Regal, you have failed. Zero Stars. I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears.Just ok. Needs to be updated. You have to pay for parking. Which is ridiculous for the prices they charge inside...
Read moreGreat 4DX Experience, But Cleanliness Was a Major Letdown:
This was my second time visiting Regal Edwards Greenway Grand Palace, specifically for their 4DX theater, and I’m torn because the actual 4D experience is a blast—but the cleanliness of this location (the seats) really took away from the overall enjoyment.
The first time I went (to see Smile 2), the entire entrance situation was confusing. The cinema shares a building with a mini golf spot called Holey Moley, and with construction happening at the time, it took us a while just to figure out where the theater entrance was. The movie itself was great, and it was a quiet day, so we chalked it up to just bad timing.
This second visit (for Final Destination: Bloodlines) was on a busy Saturday night, and it looked like some of the construction had been wrapped up. But once we got inside the 4DX theater… it was honestly gross. The seats were filthy. You can tell that this theater was a major investment—those 4DX seats and effects systems aren’t cheap—so it’s disappointing to see them so poorly maintained. There was visible grime, old popcorn and trash jammed into the crevices, and the seat surfaces looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks (maybe longer). I felt uncomfortable sitting down and ended up taking a shower and washing my clothes as soon as I got home. I took pictures, which I’ll be including with this review, because it was that bad.
As for the 4DX effects—once the movie started, it was fun. I love how immersive it feels, like being on a theme park ride. That said, there were a few hiccups: at one point, the fog effect stayed in the air way too long, making the screen blurry and distracting for a solid 10 minutes. That really took away from the viewing experience.
Bottom line: I LOVE 4DX and think it’s one of the only reasons I’d go out to see a movie in theaters these days. But I don’t think I’ll return to this specific location. It’s clear that maintenance and cleanliness aren’t priorities here, and that’s a dealbreaker. I’ll be checking out other Regal 4DX...
Read moreWent to the 4DX screening of gladiator 2, movie and seats were terrible. 5 stars for the unanticipated entertainment of getting violently shaken for 2.5 hours. The movie unfortunately froze 5+ times which lead to some great ridicule from the crowd " is this the Tyson Paul fight?" " Netflix encountered an error" among many other quips this was the highlight of the movie. The experience was further enhanced by the fact that when the movie froze the seats would continue their abrasive shaking making it treacherous to leave the experience. Unfortunately the lady next to me tried to get out of her seat during one of these situations and fell to the floor. She was unhurt, but brought laughter to her friends. The experience reached its zenith when the attendants had to reset the system and instructed us that they would restart the movie in 5 minutes. Fortunately Regal refunded our tickets at that point... My friends and I were in a challenging position, do we bail on the movie or power through this unpleasant experience?
Fortunately we decided to press on... We returned to the theater while the staff were trying to fast forward to the point where the system failed. Unfortunately this process would engage the 4DX seats every time the movie resumed leading to additional unanticipated violent shaking of your seats. After the restart the system worked as I guess they designed it. Completely immersion breaking and violent. I could not imagine taking an elderly person, child, or anyone with prexisting injury to this 4dx experience. My back hurts the next day.
So in summary if you are a masochist or need a gift for someone you hate, I cannot more highly suggest the 4dx experience. Staff at this theater were extremely professional dealing with a theater of frustrated patrons. If I ever want to relive this experience I will hop on 610 turn on Netflix and chunk my stearing wheel out the window with a live cougar in the car....
