This place is so mixed for me regarding how they handle things, and the venue itself.
Parking here is expensive, they have 3 lots but sometimes the A lot (next to raven tower) is closed for the crew/band. Plan to pay 25-40 for parking. You have to arrive 4+ hours early to even chance at getting free street parking. The location is very congested.
The ADA accommodation at this venue is almost up to par. Which I found surprising how accommodating they were as most venues aren’t anywhere close to this. When lining up for concerts they don’t really tell you this but if you have medical equipment you can’t make it through the tiny barrier lines. You have to line up inside the raven tower up against the fence inside (you’ll know once you see it). You DO NOT have to wait behind everyone else to get inside. When they call fast pass go with them tell them ada, or until it gets around 10 minutes before they start scanning to let everyone in, leave raven tower and go to the white tarp covered entrance near the front doors (they’ll have a table set up) Sometimes it will be labeled as fast pass line. You wait there at the front and inform the employee of ada accommodations. When the time comes they either take you up stairs to the ADA seated section if you don’t know the way. Unfortunately the seats are not comfortable. But you can see the stage clearly over the balcony barrier. There are ramps to get up and down to the area but they are a little steep. There is a bar on that level that provides drinks. There is also a bathroom that has a wheelchair accessible stall but the doors to get in and out of the balcony room are extremely heavy to push open. They provide staff to be right next to the ADA section and are there if you need anything. They were very accommodating to me and helped me get upstairs and locate the bathrooms. Just ask.
Downstairs- There is a bar in the back of the room, bathrooms next to that. There has always been a barrier at every concert so don’t expect to get to stage dive or interact with the band unless they jump down to the barrier.
If you don’t want to be jostled around highly suggest the balcony but it fills up fast.
Lawn shows - good luck 👍 will NEVER attend another lawn show here again. The worst experience I’ve ever had attending shows. If there is a chance of rain at all plan to be lied to for hours and hours about what’s going on, about getting refunds of canceled shows/headliners/vip packages/parking passes. White oak has canceled many shows that have had nothing but a drizzle, or pushed shows back several hours past the starting time and removing performers. They also lie about the ability to get refunds even with tickets not being scanned. The lawn itself is steep, muddy, and the sidewalk walkway is tiny and blocked by food trucks there to feed guests. The ADA platform with seating is left side, very far from stage and the ramp to get up is VERY steep and hard to navigate. But there is staff there to help.
Bathrooms on the lawn in the back left side, the ramp to get up is very steep. The area is muddy and when there’s a large crowd it’s almost impossible to get through anywhere if you have...
Read moreWhen you’re looking for a place with live music in Houston, the options are many. We have stadiums and arenas large and small and one that combines both indoor and outdoor concert action is White Oak Music Hall.
With White Oak Music Hall, you get a large lawn and outdoor stage for the larger, better known bands and smaller, indoor rooms for the less well- known musical acts. The outdoor stage and lawn are the best features of White Oak Music Hall. There is a good deal of space on the open lawn, views of the Houston skyline, and food and beverages served from food truck vendors.
Musical acts that are less popular will perform in the indoor rooms. These are more intimate spaces holding perhaps 200 people tops. There are no seats with the exception of 4 seats on the side, intended for those who are handicapped. Otherwise, it is standing room only. There is a bar serving booze, beer, and assorted soft drinks but no food.
Since the concerts are standing room only, you will want to arrive here early if your goal is to get the best possible standing spot, near the stage. Unfortunately, that will mean waiting in line outside, which means you need to be prepared for uncooperative weather conditions. For parking, there is one lot right next door and if it is full, you will have to park on the street and walk.
Because the indoor rooms are on the small side, there is no bad place to stand and you will have no problem seeing the performer. The outside is larger, yes, but not gigantic so the views are good there also. We did have issues with the sound quality when I was there most recently and I would have really liked to have something to munch on, but they don’t serve any food. The drinks are expensive, but the ticket prices are reasonable, which helps make the drink prices more bearable.
Live music is easy to find in Houston and there are no shortage of places to go when you feel the need for tunes. White Oak Music Center is an acceptable place to see a live show, but it’s nothing special, really. I think of better places for live music, but White Oak is okay if there is an act you really want to see and this is where they happen...
Read moreI enjoyed the small up close and personal venue watching Joey McIntyre. The staff, some could use some work. I mean, I get it, you work there & we don't. But as you could tell that we were older, we've been to few (lol) of these (to say the least) to know basically the best way to get it to function. Now, also with that said, for those of us who did purchase a fast pass (which stated NOT having to wait in line to get in) and didn't get VIP (obviously) should have been allowed to either go in with VIP or at least in front of the VIP line. I've been VIP before, I know all too well the "entitlement" that you feel and expect from having it. As it should be. BUT, when you purchase a FAST PASS that SPECIFICALLY STATES no wait in line to get in, that's how it should be. So, again, either they can get IN the same line as the VIP or they go in front of them. They already have their privilege above and beyond everyone else by getting a m&g. Those of us outside tried telling the staff that there were different groups, and since there were already people there just waiting in ONE line, they should've been divided one by one. This way, they didn't get those that went up to them stating they had been in line since such and such time or were in front of the big line at the start and then have to put them up front of the person/people that lined up first when you said VIP here then GA and then you found out there were fast pass people as well. Just a thought and suggestion. OR, put up signs and rope already outside showing where VIP gets lined up and GA gets lined up. Those of us who had fast passes didn't seem to worry about getting there super early bc of the simple wording on the pass. NO WAIT LINE TO GET IN. Those who are telling the staff about the show, groups, etc. should have told them the different ticket options that were available and purchased for the show BEFORE them coming out. Or again, already have set up the lines for VIP and GA and FAST PASS ahead of time. And honor...
