Five-star reviews doesn't cut it for a man who goes beyond the call of duty to service his customers. How about seven? In some circles, the number "seven" is considered the perfect and complete number. And "perfect and complete" is the kind of service I have recently enjoyed from Compucare Technical Services. Doing a data transfer from an old Acer on its last legs...to a brand new HP FHD laptop...and correcting other unforeseeable "mine fields" along the way... is a daunting, thankless task that no layman should undertake. Please understand, dear reader: I don't consider myself a computer "dummy," having had my share of experiences using these machines--both IMacs as well as PCs--since the days of four-megabyte RAM during the early 1990s. That's when I purchased my first PC from a small start-up computer retail firm in downtown Readng, PA. A time when all the buzz had to do with the machine itself...and little to do with the person servicing it. Today, at least for this 70-something user, "excitement" comes in the body of the flesh-and-blood human "pulling the levers" behind the machine. The man who refuses to yield to the problem before solving the problem. And please trust me: There ain't no problem in the computer kingdom that this man can't solve. When his business card says "Comprehensive, professional-quality technical services made affordable for all, since 2002," Eric O'Bryant may be as we like to say, "tooting his horn"...but with a mute crammed tightly inside the bell of the instrument. It should instead be shouted from the rooftops with the most powerful megaphone money can buy. Trustworthiness, reliability, expertise, experience, knowledge, service, persistence. The COMPLETE package. And worth...
Read moreI found Compucare Technical Services online, I noticed all the great reviews so I decided to hire them to repair my computer, and I sure made the right choice! Definitely ask for Eric. He is very professional, and knowledgeable. I should also note his extreme attention to detail, given the level of work he did on my custom workstation. It was no longer booting and the hardware was out of date, so he meticulously researched the options and explained the hardware specifications and benefits, chose and ordered all the best components, and then rebuilt the entire machine from scratch…right down to performing a professional installation of the newly upgraded operating system, which he reconfigured for additional performance and online safety to help prevent viruses and malware from getting onto the system. With that and the rebuild, the machine is now incredibly fast, sporting some pretty impressive business-level technology you don’t normally see in a desktop. I also had seven older hard drives installed and needed to consolidate the data, so he systematically and meticulously went through and found absolutely everything I needed and moved it all to one single new drive, and even created folders to keep it all tidied-up. And more importantly, he even managed to locate, recover, and then reimport all of my bookmarks and other personal files, which had to be extracted from a non-bootable drive. In all, I’m very satisfied with the services performed by this business, and I will be calling them for my future technical needs....
Read moreEdit: Eric has threatened to send the texts (which show me doing nothing wrong) to my former employer in an attempt to force me to take down this review. I have email evidence of this. Everything I wrote is 100% factual with text messages to back it up.
I took my laptop in for repair after spilling oil on the keyboard. A few days after cleaning the laptop and having it returned, the oil seeped up from the keys and it had to go back for additional cleaning and replacement parts. When I would ask basic questions like, “Did the part arrive over the weekend?” or “How much will this cost”, he would not give me a straight answer.
The final straw was when he asked for my Windows password to do testing. I asked him why he’d need it and mentioned I wasn’t comfortable giving that out. At this point, Eric turned combative, and at the end of multiple paragraphs of indignation said “And lastly, you should know that if I wanted to get into your computer Emma, you can damn well bet that I would be skilled enough to do so”. That’s not a great way to make a customer feel safe with her data.
Finally, Eric has mentioned that he is suing someone on here for negative reviews, so everything I’ve put down here is verifiable by text transcripts and his passive aggressive invoice. This includes his comments like, “You're so rude it’s unbelievable”, which was his response to the statement, “We’ll be there in around an hour. Please have it ready by then”. The entire experience was exhausting, time consuming, and...
