Weis Markets — Local services in Derry Township

6/23/2018 around 12:15 pm. I just had the most pleasant experience shopping at Weis in Hummelstown, such a good experience that I wanted to recognize the employees who made it a great experience. I was first blown away at the cleanliness of the store. Grocery stores in my current home city of Baltimore are not clean, it was nice to spend my time shopping feeling that I was in a nice environment. I made my way to the (again very clean) deli area. I was served by a very quick, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional staff. I got some amish macaroni salad, honey turkey, and muenster cheese. The young lady who cut the meat and cheese, to a perfect thickness, also layed the meat and cheese into a perfect, tapered stack so it was easy to pull apart. I believe her name tag said Ruby. I don't know how much you pay Ruby but I assure you she deserves a higher wage from the incredible service we received. We then had a quick checkout with a smiling employee. I grew up in Hershey and have historically gone to Giant and Fox's/Karns because they are a little closer to my parents house, but from now on I will definitely go a little further to shop at Weis when I'm in town....

Came for Advil and couple first aid things . Seen the wine when I walked in with my husband not from around this area decided to get a bottle as I got it and went to continue my shopping the beer sales person stopped me yelled at me to go check out at the beer register I didn't know. Where I'm from you do it when your done shopping the woman then gave me attitude and told me there are signs I informed her it was a honest mistake and me my husband tried to both tell her we weren't from around here she then proceed to talk under her breath maybe then I should go back from we're im from . I told her I didn't see the sign I have bad eye sight and the signs are way too high up to read and I didn't even realize they were there because of how high they were so she continued to give me more attitude. Yesterday I bought 2 six-packs of beer that were on clearance. They didn't have any expiration date. I get home and when I opened them they were flat, smelled funky and had a thick sediment at the end of the can. Today I went back to the store asking for a refund or an exchange of the product. When I explained the situation to the manager (an elder tall, white and blonde woman) she said blunty: "there's no state law that says that we can't sell expired alcohol". I was shocked. Not only there was no apology but I'm also stuck with this expired beer. They lost a customer over 10 dollars. Dreadful.

Update: day after I posted the review I was asked to contact HQ about it. The resolved the issue with a gift card. I'm satisfied. Manager stop working there weeks after it. Been coming back since then...
