I chose this hotel for my school's stay because we had stayed here the previous year, and Kyle, the individual we worked with for our group stay, was fantastic from start to end. This year, Kathi was patient with us regarding information such as students in the rooms, etc. However, if I were to compare it to last year, our stay this year wouldn't be on the same scale to receive a score; last year, breakfast was included in our room price, and the breakfast was great again. This is why we chose to stay here again, and this year, Kathi assured us that was no longer the case; breakfast was not included. It was an additional $10 per person daily. The breakfast choice was far from worth it neither did it compare to last year's breakfast; if I had known this stuff, I would not have bragged and talked so highly of the hotel and the daily breakfast to our students. The one morning I did show up to breakfast, the gentleman took my ticket although I did not eat as there were very few home fries available, there were sausages which I do not eat meat, and the eggs were runny. Our group was overcharged for breakfast as we only had 17 people eat breakfast our entire stay, yet they charged us for 23 people plus gratuity and taxes.
While I received five calls (complaints in one night) of noise complaints, three were inaccurate. The first two calls were because the students were in the halls and being kids; they were loudly talking and laughing; the third call I received, I was told the students were knocking on doors and running very loud; I let the front desk clerk know that I was in the halls already checking on the student's int heir rooms. The fourth call came in, and I again told her there weren't any kids in the hall because I was sitting in the hall talking on the phone; by the time the fifth call came, I told her I would be there at the front desk to speak with her, I was very frustrated which she could sense by my tone and demeanor, at this time I told her "Ma'am there isn't anyone in the halls, when you called me I was in the hall at one of the other chaperone doors talking with her waiting on three of our students to come back from McDonald's; she then apologized and said she was not sure. This made our stay uncomfortable as if our staff and students needed to enter the room and stay there until we walked out of the door the next day. Overall was an uneasy feeling. By the way, we reserved the conference room, last year the room was dirty, and we had to clean it because they forgot, this year the air did not work so we were very hot while having...
Read moreAs stated before, I rarely write reviews but feel in this case it is completely warranted given the lack of professionalism given from the Hilton Garden Inn Hershey (itself) and Hilton Coporate. My husband and I along with my two younger daughters stayed at this location, Friday April 22- Saturday, April 23, 2022. The room was horrendous. When we entered the room, it looked like the photos provided from the website. However, as we began to unload our items and get our daughters ready for bed, the wallpaper was peeling on the left side of the toilet and had a reasonable amount of mold growth on the ceiling. This is due to a lack of fan in the bathroom. The toilet ran every hour, too. In the room itself, the air/heater unit was plugged so whenever the unit turned on, it sounded like a paper was flapping. Needless to say, it made for a rough night sleeping. After dealing with these problems, the next morning, my group gathered our stuff and began transferring it to the car. This is when we noticed that a ants nest was disturbed and they were crawling all over the desk in the room. Some got on our coats which then got on the bed. This was it.
Beyond all of these circumstances, when notifying the front desk of our stay and that we would not be using the breakfast vouchers we paid for, the desk informed us that the information would be given to the manager and our money would be refunded in 3-5 business days. It has been 12 days now and I have received no refund. I am unable to speak to a competent staff member or the manager regarding this matter because the phone rings and rings and then when put through the manager's line, the same occurs as well. No one in this location or corporate has any idea what policy is.
Now, I out the money Hilton took for the breakfast I never ate and the full refund I am requesting for my stay. I am a patient person and am aware that times are hard but want to be given respect. I don't want to have to continue days on end with phone tag about a matter that seems simple to solve but yet has taken 12 days with no action. If you are reading this, I highly suggest you stay somewhere else even if it puts you a little further away from Hershey. I wouldn't want to see another individual or family (particularly) have to go through the obstacles I have gone...
Read moreDuring a recent trip to Hersheypark, my family and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. Overall, our experience was quite positive, with a few noteworthy aspects that added both charm and challenges to my stay.
The hotel's proximity to Hersheypark was a major plus, making it a convenient choice. Upon arrival, I noticed that the lobby was quite lively, bordering on rambunctious due to the high number of excited kids and families. While the energy was infectious, it did make the lobby area a bit noisy.
Mobile check-in and room selection was smooth, and I appreciated the modern touch of a digital room key. However, there was a hiccup with this feature. While the digital key granted access to the rear entrance of the building, it failed to work for the room itself. The front desk staff promptly addressed the issue, but it did cause a bit of initial frustration given the singular elevator and distance from the room to the lobby.
The room was comfortable and well-appointed, with all the amenities one would expect. The bedding was comfortable, and the room was clean. While perfectly suitable, it felt a bit dated. Additionally, the hotel's amenities, such as the pool, were a welcome bonus. It's worth noting, we were in a King One Bedroom Suite on the 3rd Floor that had a lockoff door to an adjoining room. The walls in this particular room didn't do a great job at suppressing the noise of the kids in the neighboring room.
In conclusion, the Hilton Garden Inn near Hersheypark is a solid choice for those seeking a comfortable stay close to the park. The lively lobby atmosphere, while indicative of its family-friendly nature, might not be ideal for those seeking tranquility. The minor hiccup with the digital room key was a temporary inconvenience, and the well-appointed room helped make up for it. If you're planning a trip to Hersheypark and value both convenience and comfort, this hotel is worth considering.
N.B. ~ The hotel is in close proximity to a diner, Sheetz, McDonald's, a beer store, and an array of other stores and...
