Norm's — Attraction in Huntington Beach

I used to be a regular here starting in 1999 to 2004 I used to hate getting the racist waitress (gray-haired senior citizen Caucasian woman) I wish that I was more outspoken then and told the nice Latino manager of her aloofness rudeness etc. She wouldn't even greet you no hello no what would you like to drink what would you like to order etc. She would literally just come up to us with a mean look say nothing hold up her pen and pad and wait for us to speak. Whether it was with my family friends or even my Italian Polish BF...all were shocked at her behavior mannerism etc. My BF only went there once with me never again he said. He's a funny sarcastic type of guy I won't forget what he said to her as she said nothing once again just held up her pen and pad BF said "Okay great I'm doing fine thanks for asking I will have the stack of 3 hotcakes" We should have left, asked for a different waitress, not sit in her area when you had to seat yourself (I eventually wised-up and did so) etc. I've only had her a handful of times thank God! I won't forget the very last time I was there my very last visit JULY 2004 unfortunately she was our waitress I asked for a cup of ice she gave a dirty look rolled her eyes and slammed the cup on the table to my horror it looks like I saw spit in my cup I had to look at it more than once then I smelled it and I gagged it definitely was saliva! My mom and I left right then and there never again went to this HB location! I regret not complaining not letting the nice Latino manager see and smell it for himself. It's unfortunate because all the other staff were pretty pleasant and the food and cost were both great especially their dinner deals. I still like and occasionally go to Norms in Orange Santa Ana Anaheim etc. I'm sure that racist rude waitress is long gone who knows probably passed away. I can't fathom how she got away being that kind of waitress but then again who knows probably someone or people complained about her. When we walked in at 1:00 Pm No one was at the area to greet or Welcome us, So we preceeded to the restrooms to wash our hands and cool down as it was 98° outside when I entered the ladies room it was a Mess, used paper towels on floor, No toilet paper in the handicapp stall, the sink was a mess water everywhere on the Floor I had to be extra careful so I wouldn't fall , As I exited my husband was coming out of the Mens room we shared comments about the Facilities he said the Same Mens room was a Mess, The young man went to seat us & the seats had food on them we thought about leaving but were Hott and needed Cold drinks so we choose our own table, Ordered and waited for our Raspberry Teas,Drank them down and had to wait for our hostess to return to bring more (The wait felt like forever) she finally Brought the teas & she brought our food We ordered 2- Patty Melt meals 1- with French Fries & 1 - with Onions Rings - Well the Patty Melts were Delicious with Grilled onions -BUT Only 5 Onion Rings (Really) we paid $14.99 for 5 Onion Rings Seriously 😳 - Onions are not expensive at my market... We were half way done with our meal and my husband flagged the hostess over for more teas and when we finished she brought the teas so the whole time we had -No Drinks- NORMS was empty so what was the excuse for Not Bringing drinks while we were eating- UNBELIEVABLE

And for those asking will we return THATS A HUGE NOOOOOO!!!!! Not to this Location in Huntington Beach , NEVER EVER RETURN TO THE SCENE OF THE CRIME !!!!

We are Huge Norms Patrons we Always go for the Bigger Better Breakfast Specials where we live in Long Beach Area or the Fish n Chips Special in Norwalk- But We won't be returning to the Norms in Huntington Beach...

Unprofessional, rude management

Use to be one of our favorite spots to eat, but today our high reputation of this location was flipped an entire 180 degrees. Bless our waiter's heart, he tried to get our order right but every single item we ordered, except the drinks, came out wrong, no matter how many times we told him. Brought the wrong fries and the second batch had cold toppings that seemed to have been scooped straight from the refrigerator. Steak was not cooked at all as desired. Over-easy eggs were too runny. The"fall speciality" French Toast came out with the wrong toppings and the second batch came out overcooked. We finally asked to speak with the manager after eating maybe half of the "fixed" food and getting ready to leave. She became extremely defensive and acted very unprofessionally. Paulita (I think was her name--didn't wear a name tag) never listened to what the problem was, immediately made assumptions, took my card prematurely and forcibly swiped it, raised her voice, and to my utter surprise made a complete scene in front of the entire restaurant. All we wanted was to negotiate the price of our final bill since the food was such poor quality and not as we ordered. We wanted to be reasonable. So yes, we came to her unsatisfied, but very calm and open to compromise since our waiter was very polite despite the mixups. She never apologized for our meal or for losing her temper. Mildly disappointed in the food, but major disappointment in the way she handled the situation--ridiculous outcome over a simple meal. We will not be eating at this Norm's...
