I visited Katherine Albertson Park on June 3, 2024, around 5:30 p.m. to see how things had changed since March. It had rained heavily in the morning and It was still overcast do the temperature was pleasant. The air was redolent with the smell of recent rain and flowering trees and bushes. I saw about a dozen types of wildflowers in full bloom: orange, blue, yellow, purple, white, pink, and rose. The pink water lilies covered the surface of the ponds and the yellow water iris lined the banks of the canals. A turtle sunned himself on a rock, the geese and ducks paddled around the ponds, and many types of birds made beautiful background music. Toward the end of my walk I saw a young male deer walk across the path and into the trees where he stopped to nibble some leaves. His short horns were covered in velvet. I went to this 47 acre park on a beautiful sunny mid-March Saturday with a mid-afternoon temperature in the low 60s. Luckily there was room in the parking lot even though there were a lot of people there. When I got out of my car, I saw a dirt path so I went exploring. I had not known about the many dirt paths through the trees and bushes along the canals. The water in the two canals is low because the irrigation water has not been released yet. I didn't see anyone else in this part of the park. I watched the Mallard Duck couples paddling in the low water of the canal. Traffic noise from nearby streets is pretty loud but you can ignore it. After an hour of exploring the dirt paths, I ventured into the main part of the park. The paved paths are wonderful. There are many stone and iron benches along the paths where you rest or sit to watch the birds. There are informational signs that show the types of habitat and creatures you can find in the park. There are a lot of Canadian Geese in the park--they are common around Boise. I could hear several types of birds singing. There are several ponds in the park where the geese and ducks swim. The paved paths are wheelchair accessible. Dogs on leash are welcome. It's a great place to take your children to see some birds and flowers. If you have never visited this wonderful park, I recommend you take a look.

October 2023: We took the family on a nice late-september stroll in hopes of finding a spot to host our 2024 wedding ceremony. Goal achieved! Beautiful and quite place to laugh and spot flowers, insects, fish, turtles, deer, birds, etc. The kids had a great time, and mom and dad swooned over the thought of being married there next year! The weather was perfect, and the location (Rookey) was breathtaking. As a bride who had no intention in a "rustic/barn" wedding, my options were limited within the valley. The price and beauty of Kathryn Albertsons can not be beat. I DO recommend that you call the BP&R phone and get your reservations taken care of through an actual employee. I set my reservation through their website and then found out 4 weeks later that there was a DT boise event that interfered with our chosen wedding date. So CALL CALL CALL so you do not get a stressful phone call before it's too late to change your wedding date. *will update after wedding ceremony takes place*

KAP is a beautiful park with sidewalks throughout, making it a great place to walk for people of all ages and abilities! It’s surrounded by trees and features various plants and flowers, and I’ve even seen some wildlife (deer, bunnies, etc.). It has ponds, which are fun and a good place to feed some birds, and a picnic area in case you want to bring a snack or host an event. In the Fall, this place is stunning will all of the leaves and plants changing colors; it’s really a site to see! The only downside I’ve found to this park is that while there are bathrooms, they’ve always been locked when I’ve gone. Perhaps they’re only available if you rent the location? Also, since it’s such a lovely place and has ponds, there tends to be a lot of goose poop on the grass and sidewalks. If you’re just going to walk around, I’d recommend wearing older shoes. Other than the bathroom and the goose poop, it’s a really nice place to take a walk or have some portraits done!

Whether is a rainy or sunny day Albertsons Park is a must visit. Park is well maintained with paths that loop from a small walk to a nice long stroll. There is a restroom farther into the park and another at the parking lot. Beautiful water features and lots of animals to enjoy. Watch the water, there are fish and turtles for the whole family to spot and enjoy. There are pavillions to rent through the city for events as well. This Park is a must visit for sure. Only feedback for anyone coming to visit, this would not be the first Park to choose to bring you furry friends. The wild life there is excellent to watch from a distance, but watching dogs disturb them is never fun for anyone. I would suggest leaving them behind or choosing another one of the many parks in the area to visit.

It was gorgeous. I just got back from walking all around the park while it was raining so there was no one else there. I was doing some photography so I was able to take as long as I wanted and I didn't have to worry about others scaring the wildlife or anything. Because of that, I was able to finish a whole roll of film and had to take more with my phone. I even got to capture it as a fox ran at some geese, trying to snatch a baby one. I was standing right there! I definitely enjoy the park but I recommend finding times to go when there are less people as you get to experience more.

Beautiful Nature Preserve in midst of downtown! As we continue to explore the Boise area (having just moved here last month), we loved this beautiful place right next to downtown. We especially liked the ponds with lilies as well as the vibrantly colored wildflowers along many of the paths. We also loved the ducks, geese, frogs, fish, dragonflies, etc. There were plenty of trails and benches from which to ponder the many beauties of nature. Calming sounds of a fountain bring peaceful thoughts and help mask traffic noises. It's a place that I'm sure we'll visit again.
