I stopped into Ennis Fine Furniture with my husband on a Saturday afternoon on a whim as we were beginning to look for a new leather sofa. Knowing that this is high end furniture I had every expectation that I would be treated great! I couldn't be more wrong! The first saleswoman I worked with, Mary C. was fantastic! I was dress in jean and a baseball cap and she was more than happy to show us options in several price ranges. She explained that they were having a 6% tax savings sale and possible other rebates may apply on certain items. Great! We found a sofa we loved, A "SUPER BUY" as it was labeled. Mary C. was heading for the Bahamas on Monday but gave us her card and a print out of the sofa with the dimensions, etc. SUPER. We went home and measured and decided it was the ONE for us.
I returned to the store on Monday to head upstairs to look at dream sofa again and buy it. I was met by Kathy B. I said to her, âI was in on Saturday and was working with Mary C. etc. I'm also looking at a sofa from Ethan Allen that is about $900 less but the same style, leather, etc. Would you be able to take $500 less for this piece and I'll pick it up today?"
Kathy B.: âIâve been doing this for over 30 years, there's no way they'd come down on the price for a SUPER BUY tag.â Ok, fine. So be it. ME: âCan you please check with the manager or someone just to be sure?â Kathy B. âwell, I can try to call someone but Iâm 99.9% sure they wonât do it.â ME: âOk, well can you please check, I am on my lunch hour and would like to know if youâd accept that or not. Also, Mary C. had indicated I would get 6% off for the tax sale on this piece so that will suffice.â Kathy B. "Oh, I'm new here but I know this piece doesn't qualify for that sale even if you were told that."
So after a little back and forth she gets the manager who concurs that they would not take any less for this SUPER BUY and whatever Mary C. had told me about the 6% was wrong and maybe she was confused, etc.
Needless to say, I am upset, disappointed that they did not keep their word on this sale. I ended up buying the sofa from Kathy B. anyway because it was what I wanted and a beautiful. I paid for the sofa, received no receipt, no ticket, no nothing. I asked if they'd throw in free deliver for the mix up. Nope. Kathy called me awhile later to say that "In all of our excitement she forgot to get my full name, address, etc.â I gave her the info and returned to the store that afternoon to pick up the sofa.
I pulled up to the loading dock as instructed by a woman in the office and two kind gentlemen loaded it up for me, it was deluxe wrapped and I was very pleased with that. The dock guy asked if I had my pink copy and I said I was given nothing, no receipt, nothing. So I was instructed to return back into the store to pick it up.
I found Kathy B. and she said, "Oh I can make you a photocopy of the receipt/order.â Fine. Upon receiving it I asked, "What kind of warranty will come with the sofa?" She said in a most condescending manner and emphasis on the word âFineâ, "With fine furniture it's just understood that if you have a problem we'll take care of it." I about lost it right there but just decided it wasn't worth it to tell her what a condescending b*tch she was. I am a professional, early forties woman whose cash is as green as the next persons. I cannot believe how I was treated from this woman at this "FINE FURNITURE" store.
I arrived home to unload the beautiful piece only to find a blemish on the underside of one of the cushions. I left a message for Kathy B. that evening. I received a call back and was able to drop the cushion off at their upholstery shop downstairs. Gary was AWESOME and was able to just fill in the little scuff for me and have it ready the next day.
One would think that when you drop $4,000 on a couch that the couch and the salesperson should be massaging my shoulders and giving me a glass of champagne while they swipe my debit card AND the item should be in...
Read moreI opted to go to Ennis because they carry Lexington furniture. I new exactly what I wanted so I ordered it in person in the store, which was a ho hum experience but okay itâs Covid times so I will just go with the lack of customer service flow. A few weeks later I decided to purchase a coffee table that matches the dining and Buffett that I ordered from ennis the same collection. Not a lot of work for the sales lady Bren just place the order and give me a delivery date. Well she says 2 weeks which is fine,Wayfair , Perigold, Overstock they can do the same I prefer a local store so I order through Ennis again. Several weeks down the road I reach out to my sales lady who with my other purchases undershot the delivery dates by several weeks. I always have to text her and ask whatâs the estimate on delivery after the two weeks she said would arrived had past. Then three weeks, then a month??? She text back .. I wrote on your receipt 8 weeks??? Wth is that about?! I could have ordered from Wayfair or Overstock and gotten the coffee table in two weeks I chose Ennis because it was local even though I would have to PAY FOR DELIVERY $79.00 AND $149.00 more than the internet was advertising. NEVER AGAIN! ENNIS NOT FINE FURNITURE ! Still waiting for my purchase to arrive! And in the hole $15,000 to...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped in on a random Saturday afternoon to see if we could look at a sofa that I saw online. When we arrived at the store, the only employee who approached was the a manager. Unfortunately I cannot remember his name. The sofa I was looking at online was no longer available, apparently itâs not uncommon for the website to be inaccurate. He walked around with us and showed a few different sofas. He seemed friendly enough. We had a few questions about a couple of pieces, so I gave him my name and phone number and he said he would call me in the next few business days. I waited a week and called and left a message. It was never returned. Itâs been 3 weeks and I never heard anything from Ennis. We werenât exactly in our Sunday best while shopping, but I feel like there shouldnât be a dress code for shopping. I feel like we were dismissed because we didnât âlook the part.â Needless to say, I bought my $5000 sofa...
