It's definitely an attempt, Boise, at a food truck area...right by the river and greenbelt so that's awesome, the seating area is a bit unorganized but there's plenty of it and a grassy hill overlooking the area, and live music occasionally. Here's what went wrong.. I ordered a Cherry Limeade slushie (alcoholic) that tasted like sweetener and not anything like Cherry Limeade, my aunt did as well and didn't like it. I decided it was worth going back and I said "I hate to be this person but we got 2 of these and they just don't taste good." The bartender stared at me and said "well we can't really take it back." I told him "oook...if I have to drink it I guess I will." He then offered half price on another slushie flavor (Mango) which I reluctantly accepted and was at that point disappointed with the customer service. We're talking about a 10oz cup of $8 slushie (and I had given him $2 tip). I expected a better response and I left with my $4 Mango slushie whilst remembering the first time I went to order the drink, I was standing behind other customers while the same bartender talked with them for a while, they had a full blown conversation while I waited patiently. They all looked at me and continued their conversations while I continued to stand in this odd conversation line about the bartenders mustache. The sense of urgency to help the next customer wasn't there, maybe I had a "kick me" sign on me? Definitely didn't feel welcome like the other customers he knew. All while the other bartender wasn't doing anything or offering to take my order. Weird. Tacos were pretty dry and the Asada was a little chewy, mehh. Rocky Road ice cream was good. Nothing spectacular but it's Boise, what can we...
Read moreLove the concept of this place, but because it's a bit limited I could not give 5-stars. Went on a Saturday during 4th of July weekend. I think the extreme heatwave kept people away - it was oppressive. Didn't take photos, but compared to the photos the first reviewer posted, there are more tables avaiable and canopies set-up. Many tables were under tree shade or right next to the greenbelt trail. Really nice set-up.
Kanak Attack was there along with the permanent wine/beer stand and sandwich/pastry stand. There is room for only one additional food truck vendor at any given time. I felt like this was a negative as I expected various food truck options since the name of the place is food truck park.
The Boise Farmer's Market was still up and running when we got there - it was right across the street. The place was not that crowded and there were two different people singing on stage. I kind of wonder what the vibe is like at lunchtime on weekdays and what the place attracts in the evenings.
It's a drive for me (from downtown Meridian) to this locale, if it wasn't, I'd frequent it at different times. I think it would be a great place to walk/run/bike the greenbelt and make this a main stop.
Will try visiting again after the weather cools, but again, it would be for a drink or snack. I wouldn't count on the...
